Reflections for Police Officer Matthew Barret Thebeau

Matt had only two speeds -- asleep and wide-open. He was a delightful nephew who energized a room anytime that he entered. He loved life and all that life had to offer. He was a fine sailor while in the USN and an exceptional officer who looked forward to coming to work everyday.
Few of us will be able to match the love and caring that he engendered. He died doing what he loved to do most -- being a police officer.

On behalf of the Thebeau and Ezell families, we thank each of you who has supported us during this time.

Well T-Bo although there were plans for us to meet soon we never met in person but did chat a few times. Jody spoke very highly of you and said you were a great officer and wonderful guy. I had really looked forward to meeting you because you seemed like a wonderful person to have as a friend. I am very upset that you were taken so soon but God believed it was your time and from what I gather you believed it too. I worry everyday when he walks out that door but he is doing what he loves as you did and that means everything. You loved your job and it was your calling and you are and will always be in everyone's thoughts. Please watch over your friends and brothers in the force and may you rest in peace my friend.

Matt was my beat partner several times in the last seven months. I love him as a true brother and shipmate. I will hold dear the moments I had with him. He would always brighten up a briefing and was a comfort knowing he was beside you on a call. To his family and friends my prayers to you during this time. And to Matt, I will hold you in a special place in my heart and mind.
