I was thinking about you today Louie. Thanks for being the great friend that you were. I was so fortunate to know you and enjoy the comradary that was always felt in your presence. I regret not getting the opportunity to return the voicemail you left me on my cell phone the day before you left us.

Take care brother

Luis, I met a friend and a coworker survivor of yours tonight. He spoke very highly of you. Please know that we are here for him as we are for all other survivors. He told me how you were trying to get people standing and watching the chase to get back so they wouldn't get hurt and then turning back only to realize the scum was going to intentionally run you down. You died so others would live, what a true hero. Luis, you, your family including your family in green remain in my thoughts and prayers.

May we all rest easier with the press release issued today:
United States Announces Extradition of Individual Charged in the Death of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar

SAN DIEGO—U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California Karen P. Hewitt announced today the extradition of Jesus Navarro-Montes from the Republic of Mexico. According to the indictment, previously unsealed in San Diego federal court, Navarro-Montes is charged in a three-count superseding indictment with federal narcotics violations and second-degree murder in connection with the death of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar on Jan. 19, 2008.

Navarro-Montes arrived today in Houston, where he will be presented in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Navarro-Montes will be transferred in the coming days by the U.S. Marshals Service to the Southern District of California where he will make his initial appearance there.

According to the superseding indictment, Agent Aguilar was on duty on Jan. 19, 2008, in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area in Imperial County, Calif., when he was struck and killed by a Hummer H2 driven by Navarro-Montes. The superseding indictment further alleges that Navarro-Montes conspired to distribute marijuana beginning at a date unknown and continuing up to and including Jan. 19, 2008. The superseding indictment was handed up by a federal grand jury sitting in San Diego on May 6, 2009, and unsealed on May 14, 2009. The superseding indictment replaced an initial indictment handed up by a San Diego federal grand jury on Feb. 18, 2009, alleging that Navarro-Montes had possessed with intent to distribute approximately 445 kilograms of marijuana on Sept. 23, 2007.

If convicted of the charges in the superseding indictment, the defendant faces a maximum prison sentence of 40 years on the narcotics charges and a maximum sentence of life in prison on the murder charge.

The extradition announced today is the result of close cooperation between the United States and Mexican law enforcement authorities. The Department of Justice Criminal Division’s Office of International Affairs was also instrumental in achieving this extradition.

The case is being investigated by the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Drug Enforcement Administration, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection - Border Patrol - El Centro and Yuma Sectors.

The case is being prosecuted in San Diego federal court by Assistant U.S. Attorneys David Leshner and Todd W. Robinson.

Good job to everyone involved. God be with his family and friends!

hey louie.
i wanted to tell you that we lost another one recently so please look for her up there and make her feel welcome. i know you will. losing her reminds me of when we lost you, but once again i am thankful for the time you both had here and the impact you had and continue to have on my life.
it still hurts to think of you, but you should know that your family and your kids are awesome! what you left behind is a true reflection of who you were. your kids still remember everything you taught them, from what's right and wrong, to how to be a bit mischievious at times. louie has your smile and a great story about marshmallows to share with you one day.
i wanted to tell you thanks for watching over us, and we are doing our best to do the same for your family. your family continues to be an inspiration to me. just the same, though, we all wish you were here. take care.

Happy Father's Day, Honey!

You continue to impact mijo and mija's life, as well as mine. A day that is meant to bring such joy was very difficult. We spent the day remembering all the beautiful memories you left us with, and ate at our favorite restaurant as a family. The kids remembering everything you taught them and everything you did for them. It is still so hard when I hear the kids say I miss Daddy, I need Daddy, I love Daddy. But with God's help I know we will be able to make it through. What a blessing we had from our Lord to have made a father like you, and we continue to learn from your strength, wisdom, and love.

Whats up Louie! Its been several weeks now since I have been back from PW. It was great to be there to honor you. Things panned out for the best over all for PW in regards to my small part in honoring you. Your family looked great there and it was so nice to see them all there for you. Your son and daughter looked adorable in thier little custom made BP uniforms. Time went by so fast unfortunately, but every moment was very memorable. Mine was when we were all at the memorial wall at night and it was raining. It was not windy nor cold, it was like a rain fall frim Hawaii only in D.C. That blue laser was so bright in the rain. I have never seen it like that before. The moment was pure.

I do wish I could have been around for more of the events but the Lords calling was different for me. It was for the best and I know that you understand that. I will always keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

God bless my brother and rest in peace.

Love,
Mario
