I never had the opportunity to know this man, and it sounds like I really missed a great experience. What a tragedy that his family, friends and fellow officers have lost such a dedicated friend, father, husband, and officer.

I was very impressed and moved by the tributes of Officer Jeffries and Sgt. Chambers at the service honoring Det. Shivers. I hope that both of you will be sustained by the many great memories you obviously have of working with this man, and that these memories will sustain you as you carry on, doing the job that he so obviously loved.

To the family, friends and fellow officers of Jerrod Shivers, please know you will be in our thoughts and prayers in the weeks and months to come. Please do not hesitate to call on me for any assistance I can render.
