Reflections for Detective Jarrod Brent Shivers

Rest in peace, Detective Shivers.

The line is thinned, but not broken.

I remember my home on sunday afternoons, half the academy class crammed in studying for the upcoming test. All of you guys became my husband's brothers and sisters. The day of graduation, such joy and happiness..Then I became part of the family too, when I started my own career in dispatch. Jarrod, you were one of a handful of officers that called me by my first name, you were kind, patient, a good friend to talk to while trying to stay awake working that midnight shift. We laughed about our kids, school, how excited you were to complete your degree, get promoted and welcome a son! There are no words to describe grief and pain that everyone is going through right now. We are so proud of you. I will truely miss you, honored to know you thank you for the gifts you gave all of us- even just a single memory of time together is what we all hold on to now. Never forget, until we meet again...

A poem for Detective Jarrod Shivers

God's Children

We are all God's Children, he knows that.
When our time is up, we can not out beat him because he wants us back.

Detective Jarrod Shivers was a kind young man who walked that thin line of blue to keep us safe from harms way.

We thank Detective Jarrod Shivers and may He rest in peace.

My family will always keep you and your family in our prayers.
Peace be with you.

To the wife...children...parents...extended family... friends...and all those...who worked with Detective Shivers...I offer my most sincere condolences.

I will never understand...why anyone...thinks he has the right...to end a life. I know there are circumstances... when that may be...the only alternative...because evil people...do exist in our world...but more often than not...the deliberate disregard it takes...to allow for one human being...to destroy another...is incomprehensible and unforgivable.

I pray...that God will bless this family...with an abundance of graces...so that they may find...the strength and courage...they will need...as the cope...with this untimely and tragic loss...as they go forward.

May God's perpetual light...shine upon...the soul of Detective Jarrod Shivers...and may he rest...in His eternal peace...for having made...the ultimate sacrifice...in protecting and serving...his community.

Remember...that your husband...your father...your son...is watching over you...from a far better place...and he is never more than a thought away...and know that someday...you will all be together...again.

With my deepest sympathy,

Anita L. Culosi
sister of NYS Tpr. Salvatore J. Embarrato eow 7/6/61
