Reflections for Police Officer Ricky L. Bryant, Jr.

Hey Smiley, I just moved to Georgia and just being here brings back so many memories of you. I remember when you were a baby and then you grew into a handsome young man still smiling making everyone smile around you. Life sometimes make you wonder about many things but just remember tomorrow is not promised and yesturday is gone, today is the day i thought about you and wanted to sing you a song. I saw your mom before I left she was at my party truly being blessed. She talked about you for a minute or two she didn't want my night to become blue. She gave me that smile the one you use to give out all the time. I love you Ricky and I am glad that everytime I saw you I had th priviledge to tell you. Although I can't touch you I know you can hear me. I luv you CUZ!

To those who loved Officer Bryant, my heart goes to you all. Know that you're not alone in this journey you walk. I lost my fiance in the line of duty January 2003 and my world was forever changed. Even as time as gone forward, and I've found many reasons and ways to smile, I still have not forgotten the man that he was. Dennis was a beautiful person and he forever has a part of my heart, just as I'm sure Ricky will always be a part of yours.

It takes a special person to put their lives on the line everyday to make this world a little safer for us all. I know many of these men never would've thought of themselves as "heroes" but they were in so many ways. It's sad that it they had to lose their lives for some of us to see that. Having said that, thank you Officer Bryant sifull for helping to make this world a better place. You will not be forgotten here in Winnipeg. I know this isn't a very manly thing to do, but if you happen to run into Dennis up there, please give him a big hug for the kids and I. Dennis was a good man and we miss him more than words can say.

Wishing those who loved you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne

Officer Bryant Jr. , I have seen you around before...........You never think that someone that you see sometimes or someone close to you could be taken from you so soon ...........But in fact you are closer to me now and your family as well........in spirit and in our hearts.
You , just like Officer Barker , the perfect father, son, brother and Leader.............A true inspiration.......never let any obstacle stop you from reaching your goals........I heard you would take a challenge head on and overcome it, no matter how tough........You, Officer Bryant Jr. are also a hero.....

I will never forget you face and what you and Officer Barker stood for.......When i close my eyes I can still see you protecting and patrolling the streets of Dekalb county.

Officer Ricky Bryant, Jr was only 26 when he was assassinated by thugs. It is a rare thing indeed to find a 26 year old who has what it takes to put on the badge and has the strength to fight. Whether on shift, or at our extra jobs(which is still police work - we are cops 24/7) we, your brothers, will keep fighting to protect our communites.

You will always be remembered.

"We Remember the Officers"
We remember the officers who changed our lives,
The men and woman who protected us day and night,
People who respect for their dedication to the cause,
For when faced with danger, they never even pause.

We remember the officers who always stood true,
Whatever the color of uniform, brown gray or blue,
With pride and integrity they say "To serve and protect",
For the giving of their life, we offer our respect.

We remember the officers who we never really knew,
Persons strong enough to answer the challenge are few,
With heavy hearts we mourn the officers in eternal rest,
There's more to these people than the badge on their chest.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Bryant and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Officer Bryant has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Bryant, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Bryant is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

For those who pledge to uphold it, Freedom requires a sacrifice the protected will never know.

Ricky was an outstanding person, friend and father. I imagine if he were here he would be humbled but bashful by all of the attention. (smile)... Ricky was a child of God and never said or did anything he would not want said or done to him. The love and respect I had for him was dear and deep. I pray that his final request has been met. I thank God for allowing me to speak with him seconds before this issue and having had the most inspiring conversation that imaginiable. You will always be my Knight in Shining Armour! Happy Birthday I Love You so much Love Bug!You are the greatest!!! See you soon.

My beautiful Nephew, I often asked my sister where did Ricky come from because he was so sweet, kind and polite as a little boy, teen and as a young man. He was a caring and nurturing father he wanted the best possible life for his children that is why he became a Marine and then a police officer. I know his life long dream was to be an FBI agent, that was one he did not get to make but in his short life he tried to be a good husband and I know that he was the best father he could be. I miss you already my sweet nephew but I know you are up there with God with your Bible in your hand and smiling(with that beautiful smile that you had)down on the rest of us and looking out for us. We love you and you will be with us always.
