I am very sorry regarding what has transpired and I was shocked to hear the news when I received the call early this morning in Tucson, AZ. Rick I had not met you personally but I had heard many wonderful things about you, who you were and with what dignity you lived your life. I am an uncle to your oldest daughter via her mother’s marriage to my brother. How fitting it is that the wonderful name she possesses you wore as a symbol of pride and courage on your agency’s patch.

She is such a wonderful young woman and it has always been a joy and an honor to have her in our family too. She was always so excited when she would be getting ready to go spend time with you and your family in Georgia. I know that she loved you and all of her family in Georgia very much.

I spent the early morning hours here in Arizona in prayer after receiving word of your death. Our family is here to assist and aid your family in any way we can. Everyone who knew you has a lot to be proud of and your children have a lot to look up to. I know your daughter will grow to be very proud and fond of you and who you were to her. I am confident that she will continue to be raised in a manner that is reflective of Godly and honorably character.

To your family: we mourn the loss of Rick especially because of how hard he fought and how well he succeeded in this life. We can have confidence in knowing that the Lord has prepared a greater victory for Rick and us. "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” – John 14:1-3

I know you will receive a tremendous amount of love and support in this difficult time. I promise you my continued support in prayer. Our Heavenly Father will truly raise all of you up and comfort you in all of your needs. “To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” - Jude 1:24-25.
