Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Ricky L. Bryant, Jr.

I am once again sitting in the chair where I first got the call. It has barely been 24hrs and mourning for you, Officer Barker, and both your families comes and goes like the tide. We have charged one. We will catch the others. It still won't bring either of you back to your families or to your fellow officers. Rest easy brothers, we will continue to stand as The Thin Blue Line. I only hope we can do it in a way that honors you both.

It is beyond difficult to try to understand the pain that comes with losing one you love in such a sudden and horrible way unless you have lived it yourself. I know what your family is going through right now. The worrying, the pain, the tears...it's all unbearable. My first cousin was killed in the line of duty two years ago. He was a Wiggins Police Officer in Mississippi. I know he has welcomed you into paradise with his great big hug and charming smile. May God bless you and your family. You are a hero!

Police Officer Ricky Bryant Jr.,

Thank you so much for making this world a better place. Let us remember when others run from a dangerous situation it is you that took the oath to face the dangers of that situation to save others in harms way.

DeKalb County, the State of Georgia, and The United States of America, have lost a true warrior that was murdered by an individual(s) that Police Officer Bryant had sworn to protect.

Police Officer Bryant may you rest in peace and keep on patrolling your beat in heaven as one of God's bravest officers.

Detective Parker A. Adrine Jr. #38
Shaker Heights, Ohio Police Department

Hearing about this brought back so many awful memories of two of our officers who were gunned down very much the same way on April 31, 2007 (Sean Clark and Jeff Shelton). Our hearts are completely broken to have this happen again. May God with the family and friends of both Officers Bryant and Barker always. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you endure this ever-painful time. God is with you and justice will prevail. Thank you both for your brave and dedicated service...you will NEVER be forgotten!!!
