Thirteen years later and it’s still like it was yesterday! You took great pride in your work and was a great example to us as your fellow officers! I pray your family finds comfort in knowing you fulfilled your dreams and served your department and community well!

That next day was the hardest day ever to go to work. Feeling in someway like the area didnt deserve our service for what happened but still we showed up. Sadly I worked the 60's and even grew up in that area. My heart still pours out for the families!! Your legacies will carry on!!

The trial began this week for you and Ricky's murderer. It brings up so many terrible memories from that night. I will never forget passing you guys in the hallway of South Precinct and saying "see you later". I got the call an hour later that you were both gone. May you rest in peace and your families have closure to this soon. DKPD misses you both and we will never forget you guys.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 4th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. He was also your brother in green so I also bid you semper fi.

Your memory will always be honored and revered for time never diminishes respect. I pray for solace for all those who love and miss you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

Rest In Peace

Although I didn't know Officer Barker personally, nor do I live in the Atlanta area, I do want you to know that there are people who are sincerely grateful for the those who choose to become public servants and risk their lives on a daily basis to keep us safe. I live in a very small town northwest of Augusta, GA and I was so touched by the article about Officers Barker and Bryant that was in the
Augusta Chronicle a little over a year ago. I've kept the article on my desk to remind me to pray for their families during this past year. I just felt that I needed to share with his family and co-workers just how much we appreciate the sacrifice you all have made. May God bless you ~

Eric,

I was telling someone about the first day we met down at Background and Recruiting. We were all there for our first day as Cadets. Your memory and the thought of you running up to the door with a breakfast from McDonald's....late..... still brings a smile to my face.

Rest in Peace. You're in my prayers.

Forgive me for missing the anniversary of your E.O.W., but I felt as though I could not continue to read about so many tragedies. I now realize the visit each day to leave a word of encouragement and hope to the loved ones of others, helps me to remember that I am not alone with my pain and heartbreak. So may I say to your friends and loved ones that my thoughts and prayers are with them now and always. Continue to keep watch over them and those still out on patrol and may they know you will never be forgotten.

Eric

It was one year ago today, we learned of the horrible loss Dekalb County PD, yours and Ricky's family, and community experienced. We recognized you and Ricky at our Candle Vigil this past December. In fact four of your Honor Guard came up to help us honor the two of you. We will never forget you.
