It is sad to hear of a brother officer's death, much less one from my hometown area. My condolences to Deputy Zunker's family and loved ones. Sacrificing one's life is for this job is the ultimate price to pay. Deputy Zunker will live on in the hearts of those who matter.

My heart goes out to Deputy Zunker, his family and friends, and his colleagues in the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department. My wife had apparently driven by the scene not long before the fatal accident. She (like so many of us travelers who take highway safety for granted) was on her way north for some lovely Wisconsin cross country skiing. Thanks for all you did, Deputy Zunker, even for those of us who didn't have the privilege to meet you in person.

I had the pleasure of knowing Jason. And that's what it was, a pleasure. He really had a way of making you feel good, if only by the smile he always had on his face. This is such a tremendous tragedy to alot of his friends and family. Not only was I blessed to have known Jason, but was also blessed with time spent with him and his very close friends. They really had a very special bond!! They weren't called the FAB 5 for nothing! He will be so greatly missed! I send my deepest sympathy to Lisa, Duane, and Marlene! It may be along, hard road, but please know you aren't alone!! R.I.P Jason! You were a VERY special person and will forever be remembered and missed!!!

A new year and new rookies to Heaven's force. Jason, you are in great company in showup -- much like you were here. Your fallen brothers and sisters I am sure have welcomed you and your heartache is those who remain here. While you know you aren't separated, you see their pain. As He holds you, so He holds them -- in love and compassion and awaits for them to experience His Peace that passes all human understanding. Thank you for your service, my brother in brown.
To those whom Jason loves and those who love Jason - your pain is immeasurable. While it does not seem peace will ever come and the chasm of "alone" is so vast and the pain is ever so deep, please know that your law enforcement family is thinking of you and that God holds you in his hand.
