There must have been a higher calling for Vu. Vu, I respectfully thank you for your years of service, your time, your dedication, and leadership by example. Most of all I thank you for the man you were. You led my brother when he was so young, I never worried about him when he was with you. I had the pleasure of getting to know Vu when he worked in central. He was the nicest, funnest guy I had ever talked to. We would joke around on all the "baby's momma drama" and the little "hood rats". He always kept me smiling. I remember how excited he was on being with the gang unit. I had left and came back and he didn't forget and I certaintly didn't forget him. I'm grateful that I got to see him and talk to him briefly one last time a few weeks ago.

Vu, I will miss you so much, you have left quite an imprint in my heart. I'm so proud of you.

Our family grieves with Deputy Nguyen's wife, the SCSD, and the community at large. It is apparent that Deputy Nguyen was an incredible officer and a loving man, with an infectious joy of life and pride in his job. We pray that God will comfort all who mourn his loss, and serve justice upon his murderer.
