Officer Carlo: from the western end of the U.S. I'd like to thank you for your service to the NYPD and to the citizens of NY. You sound like a great mother and no doubt a fine officer. 9/11 just keeps taking away great officers--I'd like to add that I've worked a couple of major criminal cases in conjunction with NYPD and I've never met finer detectives/officers. I also had friends from the FBINA who were NYPD Captains--all great people. Anyway, thanks for your service and I'm praying your family is well.

The "anniversary's" coming up Maddie.. and time's not guaranteed as so many of us know too well..

I can't think of you and not have my eyes well up or a lump in my throat.. Then I think about an incident in the academy that infuriated us, but I know that we'd laugh about it today if given the chance..

I'd trade places with you in a heartbeat my friend..my comrade.. You left such a huge hole in a circle of loving friends, family and good folks here and they deserve to have you here in person just as much as YOU deserve to be here..

I swear I can see that smirk as if it were 1992 all over again..

Wherever we go after.. I hope you are at the most peaceful place.. You deserve nothing less than that..

I miss you terribly.. <3

Madeline was a Mother before anything else. I was her academy class 92-09. She became a Police Office because she had many very positive experiences with the NYPD while living in a housing project within NYC and wanted to make a better life for her children. She was an amazing young girl, hardworking, strong and filled with determination, we all looked up to her. He children were her life. So heartbreaking she was taken away from her family so young.

Maddy I met you as a young housing cadet at PSA 5 when it was on 115street ...you were always laughing and willing to help me and teach me ....when I became a cop i went over to the 23 pct and whenever we ran into each other ...you always had that beautiful smile...I remember going to your 10-13 event in the bronx and you spoke to everyone via video from the hospital ....not a soul in the room was not crying....I think of you often...Rest easy and God Bless you and your family....

Officer Caro,
My name is Helen Jaramillo and i am a former police officer with the Los Angeles PD. I eventually left the department to be a full time mom and since then my life has taken a different path. I am now on the Board of Education for the Azusa Unified School District where we service 8,700 students. Today, I am participating in a 24 HR GORUCK 9/11 Memorial Team Building Endurance Event in San Diego to honor those of you who gave their lives for all of us. I am taking this on in your honor. I read every single one of these entries and, although, I did not know you personally, I feel connected to you. This is one day of my life and will never compare to the ultimate sacrifice you gave. Thank you for your service, your life and your memory.

Rest in Peace my sister. Thank you for your service in the department, and for getting the call to assist so many at ground zero. Many of us are still here, I'm here, and I wonder every day how long! You are gone for some time now, but you live in the hearts of your family, and all who knew you and loved you. May your family be blessed and know that their mom died a hero. Until we meet.

Today I read your bio to my sons. 9/11 is one of the reasons I'm police now. Your name was remembered today in my house. We cried together with my wife and my kids. May God keep you close.

I did not know you, but you are a hero. I don't know if you were in the military, but it doesn't matter because what you did for others trying to protect them was just as important. Sadly the world you left behind hasn't gotten any better. I salute you Officer Carlo and all of those who stood with you. Thank you for YOUR service to this country!
