We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Deputy Tanner and we honor her distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Deputy Tanner has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family, friends, and colleagues of Deputy Tanner, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with her when she walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that she will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Deputy Tanner is distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for her brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

For those who pledge to uphold it, Freedom requires a sacrifice the protected will never know.

Robin:

I remember the day you came to work at the Marathon Station. You were cheery, energetic and full of life. You brightened up the days of everyone you made contact with. I don't remember hearing any negative comments about you. I respected the way you did your job and the way you carried yourself throughout every tour of duty. I missed you very much when I left the department and when I was told that the MCSO had lost one of its lovely daughters I was terribly upset and felt the loss as if I was still in Marathon. I missed the celebration of your life and career, but only because it was impossible for me to make the trip. I was there in spirit.

Law Enforcement in general, and the Florida Keys specifically, have lost one of our best and brightest. As Suzanne Morgan has so eloquently stated it, "It is now your turn” and we all need your vigilance. I know you are up for the job; you have never let us down.

My condolences to your wonderful family, friends, and your law enforcement family. We are all missing you, but better for having known you.

I personally will miss our rollcalls where your animated personality balanced my somber tone because I am not a morning person. The guys will miss the treats you baked for them and I will miss our personal girl chats. None of us are looking forward to the first rollcall where we are all together without you. You were a hard worker, great police officer, and always a reliable, brave, and worthy squad member.

I was given the task to watch over you, now it is your turn to watch over me.

Athough your tour is over with here on earth, the members of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the citizens of the Florida Keys and everyone you have had contact with over the years, are far better off having been in your presence. Your shift has come to and end, but your spirit will live on with all of us who wear the badge. We will continue honor you and those who have fallen before us each and every time we pull on our uniforms and place our badges over our hearts. Bless you for your honor, pride and leadership. Dep. Tanner is 10-7 . . . Goodnight and god bless!!!!!

About 16+ years ago, I was an auxiliary deputy that rode with Robin several times. Not only did I have a good time as her ride along, but we also became friends. Robin is one of the reasons I became a police officer. You will be missed my friend. Rest In Peace.

I will always cherish the memories~

The Thin Blue Line

Among us, sent down from Heaven,
Are those that walk a Thin Blue Line, that's a given.
Like Guardian Angel's to watch over me and you,
Are those that wear the uniform of blue.
We see them only as traffic stops,
We do not call them friends, just cops.
We pray we never have a chance meeting,
We never pass along a greeting.
But they are so much more than this,
They simply do not see the world as bliss.
But they look into the corners of our deepest fear,
They walk the beat, they dry a tear.
They bring a message to our home,
When all is not well, and we are alone.
They come to us, no matter the need,
Handle the problem, complete the deed.
They lay their personal feelings aside,
They do their job, they have great pride.
And if one should fall among life's things,
The badge they wear, turns into wings.
