Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Mark Bedard

May you rest in peace. Our prayers are with you're family and co-workers.

Deputy Todd Siemonsma

January 10, 2008

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Bedard. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Mark, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Mark's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Mark's life was about so much more than the way he died. Mark will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Officer Bedard, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

Officer Bedard, you are indeed a Hero to all of us who wear a uniform and carry a badge and gun. Though time heals the hurt, and some may forget, you will always be remembered by your Brother and Sister Officers. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten, either. We pray that a loving God will take you tenderly in his arms, and will bless your Family and fellow Officers with comfort and peace.

Rest easy bro. You were and are the best partner I could have ever had. Thank you for being there for me when Amy was sick. Thank you for being cool with me when I was just being me. Thank you for the hours of jokes while we patrolled. And thank you for teaching me the compassion which you had for everyone you delt with. You were the stongest and kindest man I have ever known. Every cop can imagine the fear you felt. I don't know many who could have handled it with the courage you had. Everything we spoke about before you went into surgery is done. Nick knows and I will tell him often. We will take care of Andi and Nick, you just keep watch. I will see you later and we will laugh again.

Aloha Police Office Mark Bedard,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I believe in the ODMP and Police*Link that visionary and Founder Chris Cosgriff created. There is power in the written and spoken word, in prayer, in what is felt in the heart, and in the soul. Every tribute left in honor for a fallen officer, is a candle lit. Every candle lit, lights another.

Every light represents a reflection left by an individual in the form of a tribute which is and always will be, very personal and special to the fallen hero it was left to honor, and to thousands who will read it. Here we are able to come together and build a quilt for our fallen hero. A quilt built from people who share from their hearts in reflections; tributes.

Police Officer Mark Bedard, I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers peace and love beyond all understanding. Aloha.

**May all who read this tribute find comfort in this Hawaiian prayer left in this hero's honor. You will NEVER be forgotten. May God allow you to rest in His eternal peace.**

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".
Ka Maluhia o ka "I", owau no ka Maluhia,

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.
Ka Maluhia no na wa a pau, no ke'ia wa a mau a mau loa aku.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,
Ha'awi aku wau I ku'u Maluhia ia oe, waiho aku wau I ku'u Maluhia me oe,

Not the world's Peace, but, only My Peace,
The Peace of " I ".

To Andrea, Nicholas and the Bedard Family,
Our deepest sympathy to all of you at the loss of Mark. We didn't know him but he is a part of our "extended family".

I've tried several times to find the right things to say...but our deepest feelings can't always find their way from hearts to words. Just wanted you to know that you have all been in our thoughts during this difficult time and will be in the days ahead. Besides the support of your family and friends you have one big family in the Minneapolis Police Dept. They were beside us all the way when we lost our daughter and many still stay in contact.

Mark is now walking the heavenly beat, along with Melissa, and will continue watch over you. You'll have him in your hearts forever.

God Bless!
