Dave,
I've gone over what I'd like to say to you dozens of times in the last week, I keep erasing and starting again. It's clear I lack the ability to describe what I'm feeling right now or maybe it's just too hard to put into words.

What I do know however, is that no matter how tremendous a loss this is for us, we will carry-on this good fight. And just as we felt your uplifting and inspirational presence in life, your presence now is felt ten-fold as it unites us for the challenges that lie ahead. You were a brave guardian and your spirit will live on in each of us, making us stronger, making us more courageous, and giving us an even greater ability to continue the mission you so passionately and expertly executed. In this respect, I know that even now, you are out there, still keeping America safe.

Iā€™m am so proud to be among the precious few to have known you.

"A coward turns away, but a brave man's choice is danger."

While this quote describes all law enforcement, it is particularly appropriate here. This warrior ran to the sounds of battle while others ran away. He is a true hero and I salute him for his life and honor him for his sacrifice.

Dave,

I'll never forget all of the good times we had back in the day. You were always such a good friend. Whether it was working at Bob Evans or hanging out after work, going to Kennywood, listening to music, or getting lost on all those back roads. Your loving soul and sparkle in your eyes will never be forgotten.

My thoughts are with your family and friends. THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH A HERO!!!
