Reflections for Police Officer Charles Edward Cassidy

Officer Cassidy, even though I did not know you...you're a hero sir. You paid the ultimate with your life for what you were so good at...being a GREAT police officer! May your family find peace and know that you are with the Lord and that life is better than anything here. You are truly a hero and people will never forget you. You have touched lives that did not even know you, I know you touched my life. No more worries of this life...on to your new and wonderful life. God bless and Rest in Peace.

While I never met Officer Cassidy, I certainly wish I had. He is the epitome of "hero" - he wasn't a highly paid athlete, he wasn't on television or had a music video - he was what each of us should strive to be....a decent hard-working citizen who put his family first. Imagine the world if everyone were like Officer Cassidy!

Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him....

God bless the entire Cassidy family -

Ofc. Cassidy, your service to the community will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew you. Your memory will serve as an inspiration to all of your "brothers and sisters" who continue to keep up the fight. I, along with another hundred motorcops, had the honour and privilege of escorting your family and friends to the cemetary. May God bless your family, and may you Rest In Peace. We got it from here.

At Cardinal Dougherty High School, Chuck was my teammate on the football team and what teams we had in those years. I remember Chuck a big tall natural athlete who only showed his fire once the game started. He was a mild mannered young man.
Short cropped hair, someone that you respected just through his appearance and behavior.

God Bless Chuck and his precious Family.

It always touches home when a fellow officer is taken away from us. I have watched the news from the time you were taken away, up until God sent his angels to go and bring your killer to justice. Justice will not be justice until his sentence is handed down by the Lord Jesus Christ. I know that God and your fellow officers will watch over your family, so don't worry about us down here, you go and partol the streets of heaven and we will see you when we get there.

May God continue to bless Officer Cassidy's family, the Philadelphia Police Department and all men and women of Law Enforcement.

Officer Cassidy I followed the horrific news of your shooting moments after it happened till you were laid to rest today. You and your family were in my prayers the entire time.

The Lord has called you home because he had a bigger beat planned for you, now you get to watch over the rest of us down here as we try to do put an end to the senseless violence and to get these guns out of the hands of the thugs that are running rampant on our streets.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family, friends and fellow officers, who have to go forward without you by their side. You will never be far from their hearts and minds.

RIP my brother, I look forward to meeting you when the Lord calls me home.

Although I have never met Officer Cassidy and his family, I feel great sadness for them as if they were my own family. Along with many others, I followed this story since it broke on the news Wednesday morning. My heart sank when I heard that Officer Cassidy had passed on and I sobbed through the mass today. I cried when Mr. Conti spoke about such a wonderful human being. How often do you hear of such a great person? A person that REALLY made a difference in this community and did not want anything in return, except for the citizens of Philadelphia to be safe.
I have two daughters, one 13 and they other 6. I fear how the city will be in a few years when they are old enough to walk down the street by themselves. I sat my daughters down and showed them that there are good and bad people and told them of all the great things that this officer did for the city in which we live. Hearing about all of the good deeds that this man did has given me hope. You always hear the bad things that go on in this city. Finally, it's good to hear that there are still good people in this world! Although, I've go to say: Officer Cassidy, YOU ARE ONE OF A KIND!
I prayed that somebody would catch this cop killer before Officer Cassidy's funeral, so The Cassidy family could have a piece of mind. Everyone I know called me Tuesday morning to tell me that my wish had come true! Officer Cassidy has changed my outlook on life and has made me want to be a better person.
To Judy Cassidy, children and family, I truly am sorry for your loss. You will be in my prayers. Gone, but NEVER forgotten! Rest in peace Officer Cassidy! To the PPD, THANK YOU for risking you lives daily for all of us. There are people in this city that appreciate your work. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

There can be no greater love than to lay down your life for a friend and you proved this. When one looks up the word "HERO", your face will be next to it. The city lost a great man and your family lost a wonderful father, however memories will turn tears into smiles.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I just returned from Philadelphia along with two fellow officers from my agency. Words can't express the emotions felt on this day, but I just wanted to relate that it was a true honor and a privilege attending the services. May your family live in peace knowing that you are now in the presence of the Savior. "Vice may win the moment, but Virtue always wins the day." Your parrish priest could not have said it any better.

I am deeply saddened and have cried over your senseless murder. I live in your neighborhood, and did not know you.., but I grieve for your wife and children who will now be without you. You had wonderful, full life that was cut short. We will never forget you, and as citizens of Philadelphia we will make sure you are not forgotten for your service and dedication. You were a real Philadelphian and I am so sorry and feel so sad and lost that your life was taken. I hope you did not suffer.
