I had the honor at being at Tate's graduation from the academy. I also had the honor of working with him for his first few years as an officer with the Holbrook Police Department. What a wonderful young man he was. He was always so cheerful and was ready to have a good time with banter and fun. He and I had a running joke about "blankies" and I always referred to him as "Tootie". He was such fun. His smile and laugh will always be remembered. To see all of the commendations and distinctions he received during his time with CGPD was heart warming.

To all of Tate's family, I am so sorry for the loss you have suffered. Tate will be fondly remembered. May God be with you all, I can only imagine how difficult this time is for you all. You are in the thoughts of myself and my family.

I have had the privilege and honor of working with Tate's dad Gary for the last eight years. Gary is such a good, gentle, Godly, and decent man that he is loved by everyone who knows him. I've referred to him more than once as "Mr Rogers with a badge" because of his genuinely kind and thoughtful way of dealing with the public. Even the "bad guys" see it, and respect him for it. What would Jesus do if he was a cop? = Just look at Gary, and you'll know.

Regrettably I didn't get to meet Sgt Tate Lynch, but I'm told that in Tate's case "the acorn didn't fall far from the tree" - that he was every bit the honorable, wonderful man his father is. Recently a nationally published police magazine had an editorial in it that said, "The difference between being a good cop, and a GREAT cop - is compassion." I am sure Sgt Tate Lynch was a GREAT cop!

To those you left behind, I remind them gently - Maranatha. You will see each other again, in Paradise. Until then, hold on to all the good memories of this kind and holy man - and thank Him who made us that we all had the good fortune of having Sgt Lynch among us, guarding the city of men. Now he is on watch in the garden of the LORD, protecting all of us from above. Rest easy Tate...

I didn't know you, but I knew about you. You were kinder than you needed to be sometimes, you were sometimes grateful when your kids begged for the newest toy (because they had a better life than the ones you saw today), you knew not to "bite when a bark would do", and even though some days it would have been easier to give in to the dark, you knew how to tune out the bad things long enough to appreciate the good things. It was hard, it didn't pay enough, and it was worth it.

You didn't see yourself as the hero, but you thought your wife and kids were. We will pray for their healing and comfort.

We are here for your family and friends. We do not forget.

Peace be with you.

"If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded." -- Maya Angelou

Aloha Sergeant Tate Lynch,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I believe in the ODMP and Police*Link that visionary and Founder Chris Cosgriff created. There is power in the written and spoken word, in prayer, in what is felt in the heart, and in the soul. Every tribute left in honor for a fallen officer, is a candle lit. Every candle lit, lights another.

Every light represents a reflection left by an individual in the form of a tribute which is and always will be, very personal and special to the fallen hero it was left to honor, and to thousands who will read it. Here we are able to come together and build a quilt for our fallen hero. A quilt built from people who share from their hearts in reflections; tributes.

Sergeant Tate Lynch,
I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers peace and love beyond all understanding. Aloha.

**May all who read this tribute find comfort in this Hawaiian prayer left in this hero's honor. You will NEVER be forgotten. May God allow you to rest in His eternal peace.**

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".
Ka Maluhia o ka "I", owau no ka Maluhia,

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.
Ka Maluhia no na wa a pau, no ke'ia wa a mau a mau loa aku.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,
Ha'awi aku wau I ku'u Maluhia ia oe, waiho aku wau I ku'u Maluhia me oe,

Not the world's Peace, but, only My Peace,
The Peace of " I ".

Ka Maluhia o ka "I".
