Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Jason Edward Mooney

Hey buddy, I will miss your silly comments just to get on my nerves! The price I had to pay for being the sister of one of your best friends!! Oh but how I am going to miss it! You always did know how to make us all laugh! My brother and I were truly blessed to have you in our lives and you will never be forgotten or replaced! Love you always!

To your family: My prayers are with you always!

Hey Mooney, your passing was definitly a shock. As soon as I heard, I tried to remember the last time I saw you. I was home from fall break, and the Engine and Truck went to Five Guys for dinner. But before that me, you and patrick were messing around in the dayroom. You were on the couch and we were messing around. I had the scar from where you kicked me for like a week after.

I am going to miss are constant arguements over "who is better" or who was "running the bar that night." Rest Easy Brother, you will eternally missed!!

Jason, I will never forget the ride alongs I did with you in Stafford. It is because of you I am trying to make the jump from the fireside to the police side. I saw how happy it made you when you were able to help someone. You were truly an inspiration to me and I will never forget it. I will really miss all of the good times and laughs we had together. R.I.P. buddy. I will never forget you.

Jason, 18 months ago you and I inturduced ourselves in a classroom where we would have to spend 6 months of our young lives together. We had fun, we joked, we laughed. We learned a lot. We endured some hard times, especially that legal test! Somehow how on October 18, 2006 we proudly graduated from the academy. This was the start of our dreamed about career. So eager to run the streets, drive fast and get into everything we could. I remember seeing you for the first time after graduation at Liberty H.S up in my county. Along with you and your FTO from Stafford, we were working the paint ball incident of the high school kids. We talked times after that and always tried to meet at the county line to catch up. Sometimes that didnt happen. Calls kept it from happening. Our job always kept us from other things, but it is what we loved. I didn't get a chance to work with you personally again, but from what everyone says, you were a great Deputy. I will always remember the smart jokes you made or the silly stupid comments that made everyone laugh. You were one of a kind and always made any situation easier. Until we meet again, I know your watching over me keeping me safe. You will always be remembered as a HERO, FRIEND, and will be considered family to all who serve. RIP!

Jason,
I have never in my life ever been in a room so full of love and admiration as I was yesterday at your funeral. Your grandfather stated that you always wanted to be a hero, and it is very obvious that you fulfilled that mission many times over. I hope you know you will forever be in our hearts and you will never be forgotten. I have never felt so proud to be a Deputy Sheriff and also the wife of a Stafford Deputy as I did yesterday. The thin blue line never ends and never forgets. RIP brother, we have your watch.
To Jason's family and fiancee; may you find peace knowing the true hero Jason was. God Bless you all.

Jason, we never really met, passed in the halls of the Sheriff's Office once or twice before I left, but never really talked. But I know you, just like all of the others dedicated to serving our community you gave your all for your brothers and sisters and those in the community you swore to protect and serve, as a deputy and a fire fighter. My wife and I would like to thank you, your family, your fiancee, and your friends for making the ultimate sacrifice. As they say at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memmorial, You will never be forgotten.

My wife and I would also like to extend our deepest sympathies to all of the members of the Stafford County Sheriff's Office, especially to those members of Jasons midnight shift and the partnering evening shift. We pray for the loss of your brother and for your hearts and souls that you are able to make it through this loss and emerge with a sense of honor for having worked with Jason and each other.

Jason, Rest in Peace

Oh, Jason, your passing has certainly broken a few hearts around my house. I knew you were highly involved in various civic duties, but I personally never got to see you in action. The only action I got to see was your wrestling with Mark, and chasing Mark, and teasing Becky and Mr. Reed, and totally irritating ME. And all the time with that "innocent" look on your face! "What? Me?" I got to see the laughing eyes, the crooked smirk, the torn jeans, ripped t-shirt and muddy shoes you'd drag into my house at all hours of the day and night. I will forever miss seeing you asleep on my couch after a night shift at Dahlgren, or stuffing your face with one of Malia's cakes at one of our parties. You, Mark and Becky had some great times, buddy, and I thank you for your friendship and the loving care you always showed my family. We will all miss you terribly, Jason, and I will forever cherish the way you would call and say, "Hey, Mom, how's it goin'?" Rest in peace, my dear "son," and watch over us until we all meet again.

Love,
"Mom"

Jason has been my best friend since 1999. I can't even count how many events he always had going on. He always called me and everyone else he knew just to watch a movie or go to dinner somewhere. I will always remember Jason and his loving smile. He always made a smile come to your face, no matter how bad a day you were having. He found humor in everything, and that's what made him such a great person. At the time of his passing, I saw the tremendous impact he made on his community, and I felt it to be an honor to be a part of such a great person's life. And this sad news made me realize that life is too short and you need to live it like him. I will never again find a friend so selfless and great. You will never be replaced, Mooney, and you were like a brother to me. I know you're watching over me. I truly love you.

So young, yet so great! I appreciate and applaud Deputy Mooney's service as a US Marine in the War on Terror and his service with the Stafford County Sheriff's Office for the past 18 months. May God be with all those who love him and miss him now. Our country is a better place because of young people like him and sorely missed when they are lost.

Mooney, last time we spoke to each other we just didn't have enough time to say everything we wanted, well I know I didn't. My thought was that I'll just catch up with you later and finish. Never did I think that you would be off in Heaven by then. So I'll write it all out and share my story with you through prayer, this way I'll know that you definitely will hear me.

God Bless

Deputy Mooney
We are brothers in blue , as well as Marines. Semper Fi Marine and as you guard heavens gates watch over both you police family and your brother Marines in harms way.

To the Family of Deputy Mooney
Your complete family are in my families prayers and god bless you. This is a dark time, but there is light at end of this tunnel and your heart will heal. My family is just starting to make it thru it with the death of my future son in-law Josh Norris (EOW Jul 5th 2007). I know you can not see pass the grief right now or believe can shed some may tears. What has helped my family and may help yours, remember your love ones laugh, his smile and all those things that are unique to him, since they are truly what made him. Jason will always be with you, that gentle wind that dries your tears, that warm feel of an embrace when no one is near is his way of helping you heal.

To Deputy Mooney's Fiancée, my heart is with you, since having seen the pain my daughter has and is still going through, since her and Josh had gotten engaged on July 4th. I know your mourning is like no other and will never be the same as a mother, father or sibling since it is not only for what you had, but what you two planned to have. This pain is something a father would do anything to remove, but as I told my daughter, there is no doubt of his love for you since he asked you to share his life with above all others. Focus on the time you had together and treasure it. As you heal and remember him, smile that smile that he loved, laugh since I am sure he loved to hear you laugh and live since he would want you to live. Remmeber he is still beside you. Here is something that was sent to my daughter and would like you to have it also

A LETTER FROM HEAVEN
To my fiance', some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me and he said,'I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.
I need you here badly, you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.'
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the days chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....In the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.
Because you are only human they are bound to bring tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you would not understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you, and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one step at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you to;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night...."My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented...that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low:
Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go...from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going...you're coming here to me.
I will always be with you!
