It is with a heavy heart that I extend my sincere condolences to Sergio's family -- his wife and children as well as his fellow officers at the Rialto Police Department. Sergio touched my life and never even knew it - he was one of the brave men and women that I have had the privilege of working with for the past decade, and I am proud to have been a witness to a real life, honest-to-goodness hero like Officer Sergio Carrera.

I am heartbroken to hear of another officer who has lost his life in the performance of his duties. I want to say to his family that I feel your pain and your loss. I truly do...My son was a CHP whose endo of watch was 11-17-05. It has been a while but it feels like only yesterday. Please accept my love and prayers. To Officer Carrera's fellow officer I know you are also in pain and shock. I want you all to know I will be praying for you. Please know that you are loved and appreciated for the job you do. I am sorry for your loss of a fellow officer.

Sergio, I cant tell you how sorry I am that you are not with us anymore. There was never a time I was around you where you did not make me laugh. I will always remember your happy face in briefing that morning, ready to do whatever it takes to protect and serve the citizens of Rialto! I am so thank-ful that the memories that go thru my head about you, are the constant jokes that you had for everyone! You will be truely missed "Pacman"
