"If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded." -- Maya Angelou

Officer Sergio Carrera,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I believe in the ODMP and Police*Link that visionary and Founder Chris Cosgriff created. There is power in the written and spoken word, in prayer, in what is felt in the heart, and in the soul. Every tribute left in honor for a fallen officer, is a candle lit. Every candle lit, lights another.

Every light represents a reflection left by an individual in the form of a tribute which is and always will be, very personal and special to the fallen hero it was left to honor, and to thousands who will read it. Here we are able to come together and build a quilt for our fallen hero. A quilt built from people who share from their hearts in reflections; tributes.

Officer Sergio Carrera,
I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers peace and love beyond all understanding. Aloha.

**May all who read this tribute find comfort in this Hawaiian prayer left in this hero's honor. You will NEVER be forgotten. May God allow you to rest in His eternal peace.**

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".
Ka Maluhia o ka "I", owau no ka Maluhia,

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.
Ka Maluhia no na wa a pau, no ke'ia wa a mau a mau loa aku.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,
Ha'awi aku wau I ku'u Maluhia ia oe, waiho aku wau I ku'u Maluhia me oe,

Not the world's Peace, but, only My Peace,
The Peace of " I ".

A'ole ka Maluhia o ke ao aka, ka'u Maluhia wale no,
Ka Maluhia o ka "I".

Sergio you were such a wonderful person to be around. You had such a good sense of humor in the worst situations. You always answered all of the endless questions I asked you and you were a wonderful teacher. Gang sweeps won't be the same without you. You touched so many lives with your goodness. Seeing my brave hero's crying in the hallways where you walked with them is very sad. We will take care of your family and look down on us when you are walking across heaven with God. We will miss you very much.

Brother - your sacrifice cuts to the heart of all of our struggle with Good and Evil. Every little thing done to stem the tide of evil is noted...Our Lord clearly states, "..vengence is Mine." I am deeply saddened by the loss to your family and offer my heartfelt condolences. To the Department and friends I also offer my respectful regrets...Having a friend on the job murdered by a lowlife scumbag on a traffic stop in February has left me thinking about everyone else asking, "What's next?" I can only offer this: Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Light. Whomsoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Reach out brothers and sisters.....this life is only a testament to our struggling worship to our King - Make every moment count; Never pass a friend or loved one again without telling them how you feel...for those of us who wear the shield, you never know how often the time to speak will present itself. Sergio, you will be remebered brother.

"...and they prayed without ceasing always remebering them in their prayers..."

After 20 yrs of service in the "IE' i have seen many Hero's give the ultimate sacrafice. I have seen friends and cops i have respected, who make a difference not go home to their families . it is always so hard to make sence of what happeneds, but in most cases as we in the LE familly know that our brothers and sisters gave their lives trying to make the world a better place, and they
left us doing whet they loved . There will never be an end to the list of Hero's who give us their all. I pray for Peace for the Family and work mates of Officer Carrera
and i thank God that there are still heros in this world like Officer Carrera.

Sergio,

I still remember your swearing in ceramony and first day on the job. It was your quick wit, sense of humor, respect of others, honesty, hard work and dedication which convinced me to recruit you and your subsequent co-workers (friends) to our department. I enjoyed watching you grow over the last few years to become a productive and well respected member of our department. You did us all proud and you will certainly be missed!

To you and your Family -

God Bless!
