To Scott's wife and family,

I always saw Scott at the State Attorney's Office filing Felony cases on his arrests. I know he was there more often than I. He was a Warrior in Blue. From reading the reflections and hearing of his reputation at JSO, his life and work was the Top. It is good to know that he was a Warrior/Brother in Christ in that I may one day see him there in Heaven waiting to greet me on the streets of gold.

John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

"FINAL INSPECTION"

The policeman stood and faced his God, which must always come to pass.

He hoped his shoes were shining. Just as bright as his brass. "Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you?

Have you always turned the other cheek?

To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No Lord, I guess I ain't, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been violent, because the streets are awfully tough.

I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep...

Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got just too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.

And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.

They never wanted me around except to calm their fear. if you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand.

I never expected or had too much, but if you don't...I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod.

As the policeman waited quitely, for the judgement of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman, You've borne your burdens well.

Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets, You've done you time in hell."

John 14:1-4
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
4 And where I go you know, and the way you know."

Officer Bell, THANK YOU for serving our country and our community. Although I didn't know you personally, I will miss you terribly. I will keep you and your family in my heart and prayers. Rest in Peace, Officer S.E. Bell.

Today was definitely a solemn day for the family, friends and all who attended Scott's funeral. I know that his friends and family have a long road of grieving ahead. I hope it was somewhat comforting today to see the grand display of respect from the various uniformed representatives from the Police, Navy and Firefighters. We should all hope for that much support some day.

Thank you, Scott, for serving our city and our country so faithfully and for your sacrifices along the way.

Respectfully,
Polly Reschke

Scott, while I only had the honor of knowing and working with you a short time you made a positive and lasting impression upon me. You were an extremely hard worker who set an example for every one of your fellow officers. While you will be missed, you will never be forgotten. We miss you and know absolutely that you are in a much better place with the Lord.

"All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated...As therefore the bell that rings to a sermon, calls not upon the preacher only, but upon the congregation to come: so this bell calls us all: but how much more me, who am brought so near the door by this sickness....No man is an island, entire of itself...any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."

I had the honor and privelege of supervising Scott on three different squads. I am deeply saddened today. Scott was an outstanding person and one of our best patrol officers. Being a police officer was not just a job to him, but a sense of duty. He had great instincts and was a very aggressive police officer. He was one of my favorites and will be sorely missed. However, I take comfort in knowing that he knew and accepted Jesus. Today, he is in the best place. Brother, you have served your country well. God bless!
