All Gave Some - Some Gave All - For many years this officer stood the watch... While some of us lay about at night, this officer stood the watch...
While others of us were attending schools and, yes, even before some of us were born, this officer stood the watch...As our families watched the storm clouds of war
brewing on the horizons of history, he stood the watch...
Often he would look around and see his family needed his guidance, but he knew he must stay because,he had the watch...For many years he stood the watch so that we
and our fellow citizens could sleep soundly in safety knowing that this officer would stand the watch.

Today we are here to say...
"The watch stands relieved..."
Relieved by those you have led, guided, and trained...

Friend
"You stand relieved...
We have the watch."

Gary I will always be indebited to you for all you did. You were not only a coworker but a friend. We had alot of good times together and you will be missed and NEVER forgoten. Thank you for you friendship.

To Deputy McCormack's family, co-workers and friends I want to express how very sorry I am for your loss. Our law enforcement family is nationwide and each loss is felt by the entire family. May God be with you in this time of sadness and may He remind you often of your loved one through the memories he left in your hearts.

God Bless.

I had been in Wheatland, MO for a racing event this weekend and was driving home and while listening to the radio to help me stay awake, the news came on. It brought me painfully aware of this family's tragic loss and that is all I could think about for the next three hours as I continued home. I awoke this morning still thinking about Officer McCormack. My father was a police officer for over 20 years and I worried about his safety constantly. I am terribly sorry for your loss and I pray that God will carry you through the days ahead and give you the strength you need. Sincerest sympathies from the Lairamore-Bowles family in Arkansas

In the trainings that I had attended that Gary had conducted, I remember the extra effort that that he would always give. He would always give the extra time and effort to move someone he was training from just good enough to pass to help them move forward to excel. He was exceled at what he did and always encouraged other to do so as well.

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises
of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional
eyes on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for
investigation and wise judgement.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and
law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores,
strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences
with the devil that the police officer's lot on earth is not
always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so
pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the
devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your
heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the
throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all
the people. Amen.

Rest in Peace Gary.....

To the McCormack Family:
I'm so sorry for the loss of Gary. It's been a long time since I last saw him, we were just a couple of kids working at a movie theater. I didn't know him as an officer but I wasn't surprised when I learned of his career choice. Even back then he had a big brother way of looking out for people. He really was one of the good guys. Your family is in my prayers.

October 8, 2007

Rest now my brother. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and agency. We will continue to train officers that will hopefully live up to your example. Walk proudly on your beat on Heaven's streets and watch over the rest of us continuing the fight in your place.

Gary you will truly be missed, those corky comments, goofy magic tricks, and all around good nature.

Stephanie not sure if you would remember meeting me at the hospital long ago, but just wanted to let you and your family you were being thought of.

Gary was the epitome of a great officer! He was a loving husband and father. He had a zeal and earnest dedication for his job that ran from the top of his head to the tip of his toes, and right through his heart. Gary loved being a cop, and he was very good at it. He was also a great firearms instructor with the patience of Job. He helped make people better at what they did through his kindness and encouragement. Gary also had a smile that never quit. When work would get tense, he always had a way of making it better with his one-liners. He just had a knack for knowing the right thing to say and do to make people smile and feel better. He always had a kind word for every person in every situation. His absense leaves a huge hole in our law enforcement family and community.

To Stephanie ... I hope you have an opportunity to print all of these tributes to Gary, so that some day when Grant and Natalie are older, you will be able to share these thoughts with them. It will show them the heart of their father through the words that were spoken in tribute to him. Your husband and their dad was a truly wonderful human being who loved God, his family, his country, and his duty as an officer. You are all in our prayers at this tragic time. May God give you comfort and peace in knowing that when Gary's watch ended, he had lived a good life, fought the good fight and kept the faith!
