As a Police Officers wife this is a call I pray never comes. Each day these officers respond to calls that we all, myself included, take for granted. There are no such things as routine calls especially when dealing with domestic violence. For the family, friends and loved ones of these officers our prayers are with you daily. For the citizens of Odessa don't let these officers memories fade. It could have been you they died for. Rest Well Brothers in Blue.We have your watch now.

I had the privilege of meeting officer Gardner on seperate occasions when he would answer a call to the apartment complex i manage here in odessa. on one occasion after taking care of the situation here he stood in the parking lot talking to my daughter and myself about her experiences while taking the home instructed drivers education course.we had a very enjoyable converstaion and he was genuinely interested in her take on this experience. i thought it unusual, but very nice, and reassuring that an officer would take time out of their hectic and busy day to just visit with a 15 year old girl. he showed me in that short amount of time that he cared and was interested in the youth of this city. i appreciate his help in maintaining order on this property and will forever be grateful for the attention he showed to my daughter. god speed officer gardner, rest in peace and may god bless and be with your family and friends in their time of grief.

"A Part Of America Died,"
Somebody killed a policeman today,
And part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
And spend many long lonely nights.
The beat he walked was a battle field too
just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
In your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And stands at each new rookies' side.
He answered the call,of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.

HOPE THESE SIMPLE WORDS CAN BE OF SOME COMFORT LATER ON DOWN THE LINE. IT IS HARD TO SAY WHAT IS REALLY IN ONE'S HEART WHEN WE LOSE A LOVED ONE IN THIS FASHION BY SOMEONE WHO HAS NO REGARD FOR LIFE.
SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSE
