Sgt Harrison,
I would like to thank you for your dedication to impaired driving enforcement. The program you developed may be the state model for DUI. The work you did will carry on, and over the next several decades will no doubt have saved thousands of lives.
I have only met you only once before, and I look forward to meeting you again in Heaven.
For the time being, I pray for your family, your co-workers, and the people you influenced on a daily basis.
I am not sure how it works up there, but if there is a need for a DUI program, I am sure your God's right hand man!

God bless!

Ron:

I hope you knew how much I appreciated your consistent willingness to participate in DUI research projects and enforcement waves. Whenever I got a call from Atlanta or Washington asking for potential agencies to participate in a study, I always seemed to say, "Let me call Hillsborough County SO," and you or the major would always say "okay."

You were a good friend, and I will miss you.

Sir,
Well, I never met you and I don't know you or anyone from Hillsborough County, but from what your fellow deputies say, you were a amazing man. I can't begin to think what they must be going through dealing with your loss. I do know that as I write this I cry for you and those that you left behind. To you, the ones that mourn Dep. Harison I offer this: No matter how much you want to change the circumstances of this tragedy, you cannot. What you can do is honer is memory by fighting the good fight. This is what he did. We all dedicate our lives to the idea that one shift, one watch will make the world a better place to live in. Go out there and make a difference, do what's right for Ron. That is what he did and that is what he would want you to do. He's up there watching over all of us. Let's make him proud. Take 'em t jail and make an angel smile tonight.

I first met Sgt Harrison about 7 years ago when he called to make a complaint about a pursuit procedure that was not be followed by a disptacher who was of course, me. Being new, unsure and very insecure about myself and my job I took it to heart and got my feelings hurt. Being the person he was he made a point to come up to the communications center and met the "person" behind the radio, to apologize for hurting my feelings and to say he was sorry. I quickly learned that Sgt Harrison was not only very passionate and serious about his job, but he was a very kind and caring man behind the badge. He was not only a great Sgt with HCSO but he was a great person. He will be missed. R.I.P Sgt Harrison. We will never forget the person you were. God Bless You.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
that wasn't mine to keep
though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
for the judgment of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
you’ve born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
you’ve done your time in hell"

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers, thank you for your service and dedication to the law enforcement field, its men and women like you that make everyday a better plac to live.

Sgt. I worked for you on midnights when I first got cut loose and again when I came to the FTO squad. I remember you responding to calls with me, and taking the time to mentor the new guy on your squad. I remember my first night on the FTO squad, you were sitting in the office. You looked at me and said "your boots need some polish." That is what I will miss about you the most Sgt. Your STYLE!! You brought that style to everything you did in and outside of the office. I am thankful for the knowledge and friendship that you shared with me.

It has taken me several days to comprehend the tragic and violent death of Sgt. Harrison. This is no just reason for this event to have occurred. I had never worked with him, but we had met and attended training classes together. If you met him once he became a friend. I know of no one who doesn't like him or respect him, to include me. He was the face of DUI enforcement for the office. He will be missed.
Sergeant you are a true hero and your loss has hit the agency hard. Know that your fellow deputies respect you and that you have made a difference in your 27+ years of police work.
Godspeed sergeant, we have the shift.
