I send my personal and professional condolences to his family and to the fine men and women of the Cheyenne Police department.

I would be happy to assist should Chief Stanford's family or any attending Officers need help here in Washington in May of 2008.

I am at a loss for words. We have lost one of our finest officers and a friend. You were always easy to talk to and people were always seeking your opinion. You were always available to offer whatever assistance you could. You worked closely with victim advocacy and were the board president for our child's advocacy center. Not only will you be missed by our agency but agencies throughout our city. There are just too many good things that could be said about you. Things will be so different without you Bill. Most of all I will miss your smile and hello.

It is indeed tragically ironic that such a man can stare death in the face for an entire generation, only to be lost forever in such a seemingly mundane manner.

Chief Stanford, sir, you will never be forgotten.
