One Year ago today, Law Enforecement lost a beautiful and dedicated agent here in Massachusetts. That loss has a ripple effect and we all feel it.

I know God is with your family and you are with God.

May you continue to Rest in Peace, Sister, you are not forgotten.

Thought of you often through the years. Kim was a wonderful person and a good friend in the short time I knew her. I shed a tear for her passing and I will keep her and her family in my prayers. She was one of the most beautiful persons I have ever known.

Kim,

There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about you. It has been difficult to know that you won't physically be around here anymore. You are my hero, always have been, and always will be. I love you so much and miss you coming to see me, or calling just to say hi. I want to thank all of her co-workers and friends for their support, and never leaving her side, I can understand how hard it is to lose someone so special. I love and miss you so much. Please watch over me Kim. Until we meet again...

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Agent Place. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Kimberly, she sounds like she was a great woman with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew her in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Kimberly's life and the WOMAN that she was. Remember that Kimberly's life was about so much more than the way she died. Kimberly will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Agent Place, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Kim,

One of the many gifts you gave me reminds me of you everyday, and of just how fragile life really is. It's the decorative pillow which reads "IF THE SHOE FITS, BUY IT IN EVERY COLOR!" You were always so generous to bring me a souvenir from one of your trips or a gift at Christmas and they were always gifts which were whimsical or meaningful. The message has always reminded me to seize the day and live life to the fullest, but it is especially poignant now. I am sad and I miss you.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
that wasn't mine to keep
though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
for the judgment of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
you’ve born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
you’ve done your time in hell"

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers, thank you for your service and dedication to the law enforcement field, its men and women like you that make everyday a better plac to live.

I had the great privilege of being a friend of Kim's and was, like all who knew her, very upset, shocked and saddened by her passing. Kim was laid to rest with full police honors and many kind and appropriate words where said honoring her and her remarkable character. Kim had a very big heart touching many lives. My wife Lauren and I will always love and remember our dear friend Kim. Rest in Peace.
