Police Officer Russel Timoshenko,

The circumstances of your death are as tragic as can be. Each of us who wears a badge walks another day not because we are more skilled, better trained, or better suited for police work. We are simply lucky. And none of us really knows if our luck will run out. We just continue to do our jobs with the thought of serving the public. You have done a tremendous service for the people of New York City by entering law enforcement. That one would choose to shoot you down in cold blood illustrates clearly that some of those we serve are the worst of scoundrels. How are we to know who among us will be the one to try to take our life? To strike at one of us is to strike at all of us. We will be forever ready serve others and to protect others, but we must always be ready to protect ourselves. And each other. You have acted honorably and courageously. Both you and your partner are heros among us. The investigaton that led to the capture of the culprits in this case demonstrates the power of our unity. Your service to mankind will be remembered by all your brothers and sisters who are soldiers of the law. I am certain that your obedience to our Creator's greatest commandment will be all that is needed to open wide the gates of Heaven as you arrive. Well done, officer, ...well done.

Dear Russel,

I think of you every day when I am on Patrol, like you I am nearing my year and a half and not one minute passes by that I don't think about you. I never knew you on a personal level but our brothers and sisters in blue that had known you have nothing but kind words for you. I come here time to time and just look over your page and it brings tears to my eyes. You are missed by many and I know that I will never forget about you.

A brother in blue.

I was in New York at the time of your murder. I felt very safe while in your city. I appreciate all of the police officers, Fire Fighters, and Paramedics that work long, hard hours for little or no recognition. Officer, your watch is over. You are gone but definitely not forgotten!

February 7, 2008

RIP Officer Timoshenko. All the best to your friends and family. Thank God for brave officers like you that protect us by putting their lives on the line each day to protect us from evil and uphold the law.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Timoshenko. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Russel, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Russel's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Russel's life was about so much more than the way he died. Russel will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Officer Timoshenko, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

When I read about what happend in the paper tears came to my eyes. You are a true inspiration for me partly because you were only a year older than me and partly because my dream is to be apart of NYPD. You are a true hero, a brave officer, and a true New Yorker. Watch over your brothers in blue through the dark allyways and abandoned houses. You we be greatly missed and thank you for making the city safer so ordinary citizens are able to walk the streets safely. Rest in peace my friend
