I never had the privilege of meeting Ofc. Kozminski, but I attended the academy that he graduated from, and am familiar with his story. He is well represented there and serves as an example of the sort of Officer new recruits strive to be.

I will never forget him nor the sacrifice that he made.

I think of Officer Kozminski each and every 4th of July holiday. We live in the area of where this tragedy occurred and heard the shots ring out that night. At first there was the thought that it was someone lighting fireworks. But those of us familiar with the sound of gunfire stopped, silence fell, and then we heard the news over the police scanner.

Officer Bobby you are in our hearts forever and each Independence Day you are on our minds.

Thank you for your service to our community. We miss you!

Officer Kozminski,

We lost a brother recently and we now feel the same pain your family and the GRPD feels. It is a horrible pain!

I was at your funeral Mass and rode in your procession. It was very touching to see the outpouring of support Grand Rapids gave you. I saw the same outpouring of support in Kalamazoo as we rode with our brother, Eric Zapata, on his last patrol. I put the pamphlet from your Mass at my desk after I returned on July 13, 2007 and it is still there. I see you everyday I'm at work. Now, I have to add my friend's funeral Mass pamphlet to my desk too. I keep them to remind me of the sacrifice you both made and to remind me to be as safe as possible. I believe you, along with St. Michael, St. Peter, and God welcomed Eric into heaven on April 18, 2011.

To the Grand Rapids Police Department, thank you for everything you did and the support you showed Eric and our department during our tragedy.

May God continue to watch over your daughter, parents, siblings, extended family, and the GRPD.

Bobby even though we never met I feel like I know you through Kristen. Thank you to you and all those who serve us and those who lost their loves and their loved ones. This world is a better place because of men and women just like you and now Heaven will be even better when we all meet again.

Always in our thought and prayers

RIP

I've never met Officer Kozminski, nor did I ever know of his story, but I had a dream last night where I was walking around with an officer and by the end of the dream he ended up telling me his name (Kozminski). I just happened to write it down, feeling as if his name might be of importance. I am attending GV to be an officer as well as living in Grand Rapids and thought it to be a weird coincidence when I pulled his name up on the computer and saw he had worked for GRPD. I don't know the reason in why I am being contacted or if I am suppose to let everyone know that he is walking around happily, but he is a true hero in my eyes (as he was in my "dream").

RIP Kozminski!!

Dear P.O. Kozminski,

During Police Week, I was provided the honor of escorting your surviving family members at National Airport and then again, at the Capitol Building for the National Peace Officer's Memorial Day Service. I distinctly remember your daughter because she is the same age as mine. To this day, I carry the patch from your agency she gave me during the Peace Officer's Memorial Day Service. Please know I think of you often when I suit up for my tour of duty. Continue to watch over all of us still down here on the thin blue line.

Thanks
