Josh,
I remember the first morning you got into my car for your field training on Second District Daywatch. You looked as old as one of my children with that young "baby" face.

Nevertheless, youhad the heart of a champion and the spirit of a tiger; you were eager to learn more and more about this job that you loved so much.

It was a honor to know you as both a person and my rookie trainee. Go in peace to the heavens and guard the streets of heaven with St. Michael, he will need your help now.

My prayers are with you and your family always.

Deputy Norris: It again saddens me to see another officer's life end so suddenly and tragically, especially at the beginning of your law enforcement career which showed so much promise and hope. I am sure that all who have known you and have had the honor of working along side you, are all better off because of it. Rest easy brother, and please continue your watch over us.

I also extend my thoughts and condolences to Deputy Norris' family, friends, and his fellow brothers and sisters at JPSO. My agency also lost a fine and outstanding police officer in Luke Hoffman this past April, who incidentally had 1 year of service as well.

~ It is not how these officers died that made them heroes, it is how they lived. ~ Vivian Eney-Cross

"When duty called, there was no thought but answer;
No question, but the task that must be done.
Though Death their final payment for the victory,
For honor was the battle fought, and won.

No monument stands higher than their valor;
No words replace the loss of heroes, slain.
But if their names, remembered, give us courage,
Their sacrifice shall not have been in vain."
