Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Joshua Everett Norris
Deputy Norris, i'm sorry for what happened to you almost 18 years ago, as your death wasn't neccessary and it was senesless. Not to mention that the person who killed you was a coward, as he couldn't take responsibility for his actions that day, and chose the easy way out instead of going to jail. From what i learned about cases like these over the years, is that everyone is so desperate to avoid jail that they choose to do the most out of pocket and crazy things just to avoid some time, like what happened here. The suspect could've went to jail that night and got out a short time later, but instead chose to be a coward and chose to make a choice that proved how spineless he was. Other than that, it's safe to say that justice was served and karma got him in the end as he died a week after you did, which means that he won't bother anyone else again since he clearly was a nuisance to others. I don't think it will ever make sense to why people are willing to harm and kill police all for the sake of avoiding some prison time, since those who do such things like that are rebellious and can't accept accountability for their own sake, which is also a problem in today's standards. Nonetheless, it still doesn't make up the fact that man killed a police officer, who was responding to a domestic call not knowing that he would soon deal with a man who had nothing to lose. But other than that, i'd like to pay attention to the positive side of things. From what i learned, you were a young kid who was still new in law enforcement and had only a year on the job, as you were still learning. Although you were a young man at only 22, i think you were one of the brave ones to stand up and fight against evil, since you had it in you as a young warrior. And although i never met you, i think it would've been a pleasure to some who wished to have met you or got a chance to meet you eye-to-eye, since you were one of the good ones with a passion to serve and protect and truly make a difference. With you having only 1 year of service, i think that 1 year said alot since you made a large impact and difference in that short span, and i personally think that had you not been killed by that scumbag, you would've continued to change lives and help those in need with your bravery and selfless character. It is a shame to lose any officer in the line of duty, especially those who are young and strived to do better for their community, and you Officer Norris, were one of them. Since the anniversary of your passing is approaching, i'm sure the residents of Louisiana and Jefferson Parish will take the time out of their day to remember you and honor you for your bravery that day, and that your name will be said around town and online for all to see. In other words, as long as your name is said and you are remembered, you aren't truly deceased as you continue to live in the hearts and minds of others, even those who knew you and had a chance to meet you. Another thing i'd like to mention is that with the fact your brothers serve with the same department, it means that you had family in law enforcement, which i'm sure inspired you to become a cop growing up, and that your brothers had your back before the time of your death, and they'll take it from there and continue your legacy that was unfortunately left behind. Also, as someone who believes Karma is a real thing, i believe that karma got to your killer eventually by making him suffer in the days of what happened, as karma took it's sweet time to make sure that your killer suffered before eventually passing, and going into the afterlife to face judgement day and receive his punishment for what he did to you. But as of now, may you rest in peace knowing that your killer is also gone, and is facing the consequences of his actions, and that your service will forever be cherished and live on for as long as time goes on, and that your memory will stay alive by those who knew you, and anyone else who learns about your story and the things you did in life. Rest Well Mr. Norris

I’m a rookie Officer and was shot in the line of duty in my last week of FTO.
Still now recovering from the incident and just finished watching the “Rookies” police show episode about Officer Norris.
The stories of our fallen brothers and sisters breaks my heart and reminds me everyday how thankful I am to be alive and still able to do the job I love once I fully recover.
Rest In Peace to all of our fallen brothers and sisters. God bless their families, all of law enforcement and the communities we love and serve.

Hi Josh,
Just checking in with you again. Our world is still in a crazy state right now. I’m coming up on 11 years with my department in June. I can’t believe it’s been that long since your rookies show originally aired. My heart still goes out to your family; I hope they have found some peace. Rest In Peace my brother. 10 years ago I got to spend your last Christmas with us... it was a much happier time without knowing it was our last one together. Every Christmas since has been so hard with you not here. I miss your laughter, your smile, your smell, your hugs, your love...I MISS YOU.!
If I could build a stairway to Heaven, I would. Just so I could have it all back...even for a little while.
I wish you were still here with us in the flesh, but I know you are in spirit. I love you with every breath I take and miss you with every heartbeat. Until we can be reunited...
Forever in my dreams...
Love, Mom

It is a sad day when young men are raised with no values to prevent them from killing an inocent man who was, just doing what he was created to do serve and protect. As soon as all of us do the things I know he had talked about many times like, a global curriculum, strengthen our military, raise salaries for law enforcement, hard harsh punishment for violence against women and children, raise teachers salaries, give our vets a million dollars, give over 65 a million dollars, follow a plan to clean our oceans, insure animal rights, pay our farmers a premium price to plant a profitable crop, create jobs, allow kids to pray in school and pay them when they graduate, offer the unimployed a opportunity to pray for pay, secure firearms and train all gun owners at an armory for each municipality and provide new firearms, and much more. Thank you officer. We will have to wait for another one of Gods sons to finish your work.

My days are empty without you here... I know you have Duke and friends keeping you company. Keep watch over everyone, but especially your brothers and sisters in blue to stay safe. This world would be a better place with you here. Miss you more than words can say. A new year, a few more tears... Love you, my sweet Josh.
