Reflections for Officer Frank Charles Denzinger

Rest in peace hero, your tour of duty here is done. Guard the golden streets of heaven well. PS Put in a good word for your brother down here.

Deputy Denzinger, may God give you the eternal peace that a hero like you deserve. Your tour of duty will for ever be in our hearts. Your family, friends and peers through out the world honor you and your family. Thank you, you have touched our heart and remind us that we must kiss our love ones as we head out the door. Much respect from the Illinois State Police.

The policeman stood and faced his God, which must have always come to pass.

He hoped his shoes were shining just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint."

"I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been violent because the streets are awfully tough."

"But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep... Though I worked a lot of overtime when bills got just too steep."

"And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears."

"If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't... I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod, as the policeman waited quietly for the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now policeman. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's street. You've done your time in hell."

As another former Floyd County officer and current city officer in Floyd County, I am deeply touched by your passing. I was lucky enough to work with you not long ago when you needed a K-9 track. I will always remember your easygoing, funny and thoughtful nature. Many of us have known you and Tara separately for some time, but did not know that you had been married. It is only fitting that two kindhearted and genuine people would find each other and create a beautiful child.
Keep watch from above Frank, as we will always remember your dedication to duty. You served with HONOR.

We should not remember for how he died, rather for how he lived. Senseless tragedies like this make us all vunerable to the "routine call" It takes a kind heart and a brave soul like Denzingers to answer each and every call for duty as it could be the very last. My god help heal the wounds for his widow and child he left behind, and help them get through the pain and grief that may lie ahead. God Bless you Brother, we will surely miss you...

Tara,

I don't know you, and yet I feel like I do. In you, I can absolutely see myself. I just wanted you to know I have been thinking of you this week. My husband was there Monday night, and I can tell you this experience has profoundly changed both of us. Your husband was a hero, and I will never forget your sacrifice.

I also wanted you to know your courage is inspiring. Thank you for sharing stories about Frank with all of us. Your grace throughout this ordeal has been evident. I am so sorry you, your daughter, and your family are being forced to go through this. I have to believe there is a purpose, and I know God received a hero Monday night.

I will continue to pray for you all.
