A POLICEMAN'S PRAYER
BROTHER WHEN YOU WEEP FOR ME REMEMBER THAT IT WAS MEANT TO BE.
LAY ME DOWN AND WHEN YOU LEAVE REMEMBER I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE...IN EVERY DARK AND DREARY ALLEY I'LL BE THERE AS YOU SLOWLY TREAD, ON EVERY STREET CORNER IN THE DRIVING SNOW I'LL HOLD YOUR COAT AND YOU WILL KNOW.
IN PLACES WHERE THE DEVIL IS AFRAID TO WALK...
AT DOORS WHERE YOU MEET RESISTANCE...
IN HOUSES WHERE CHILDREN HIDE...
YOU KNOW I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE.
THE PLACE FROM WHICH I NOW RESPOND IS OVERSTAFFED WITH HEROES GONE...MEN WHO ANSWERED ONE LAST JOB AND DID IT WELL.
AS POLICEMEN WE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A CARD DEALT IN OUR HAND...A CARD WE HOPE WE NEVER PLAY BUT WE HOLD IT THERE ANYWAY.
THE CARD IS SOMETHING WE IGNORE AS WE STAND ON THAT THIN BLUE LINE EVERY TOUR...FOR WE KNOW THAT WE ARE THE ONLY PRAYER FOR MANY OUT THERE.
SO REMEMBER, AS YOU WIPE YOUR TEARS, THE JOY I HAVE KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE YEARS...AS THE JOB I LOVED TO DO I PRAY THAT THIS THOUGHT WILL SEE YOU THROUGH.

It is a very sad day for Kentukians. We have lost yet another fine officer. Randy was a long time officer in Powell county. He was well liked by all and devoted to his career. I had the pleasure of both knowing and working with Randy. (I was with Ky State Parks Police) Randy never hesitated to go above and beyond. I know that Randy is already missed by scores of friends and will never be forgotten. My heart goes out to his family. Thanks so much for the ALL that you gave to us.

You have earned your rest my friend,

To the family and friends of Chief Randy Lacy and his fellow officers with the Clay City Police Dept.:

On behalf of our family, we wish to extend our deepest condolences on the grievous loss you have suffered because of this horrific murder.

May you be comforted by the support of your faith and your law enforcement family. There are many other survivors of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty who share this difficult journey with you, and they too can be a source of great comfort.

Heaven has another hero today, but how I wish it were not your beloved.

This refection is sent with the utmost respect for the years of distinquished and dedicated service Chief Lacy gave to his community, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on June 13, 2007.

Chief Randy Lacy rest in peace.

"Oh, Lord. Hear my prayer. May I return from my shift in the same health as when I enter into it. Please give me the wisdom to perform my duties to the utmost of my abilities. Help me to stay focused and fair in my contacts with the public. Help me to always keep in mind the oath I've taken as an officer of the law and a public servant. Give me patience, strength and the ability to overcome those who seek to harm the weak and defenseless. Oh, Lord. Hear my prayer.”
