THE AIRMAN'S CREED

I am an American Airman.
I am a Warrior.
I have answered my nation's call.

I am an American Airman
My mission is to fly, fight, and win.
I am faithful to a proud heritage,
A tradition of honor,
And a legacy of valor.

I am an American Airman,
Guardian of freedom and justice,
My nation's sword and shield,
It's sentry and avenger.
I defend my country with my life.

I am an American Airman:
Wingman, Leader, Warrior.
I will NEVER leave an Airman behind,
I will NEVER falter,
And I will not fail.

SA Kuglics, you lived these words. Warrior, Honor, Valor, Justice...American Airman. Rest in the Glory of God. To the family of SA Kuglics..You are in my thoughts and prayers. My son is an A1C. God Bless all members of the United States Armed Forces.

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Agent Kuglics, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

To the family of SA Kuglics I send my prayer that the Lord will comfort and console you through this time of grief. Often the words of men ring hollow to the heart, in times like these, but the Words of God fill the heart with love, peace, confidence, and hope.

II Timothy 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
6: For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

I am deeply thankful for courageous and faithful Airmen of our country as SA Kuglics and SA Balmer are. They have fought the battle and kept the faith for our freedom. Thank you. My prayer extends to the OSI unit and Security Police folks that served with SA Kuglics. Know we are grateful for your service.

Matthew "Itchy" Kuglics was a passionate young man, full of life, energy, always striving to help others, and make a difference. He always spoke from the heart and never held any punches or had a hidden agenda. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and joke with everyone. On numerous occasions, he told us and showed us that he loved the Air Force, AFOSI, and our way of life. He knew through intense training, dedication, and persistence that he could make a difference in Iraq and he demonstrated this on a daily basis. He cared deeply about his teammates and at times openly shared these emotions, which helped bring everyone back to reality during stressful times. He risked his life for his team as they did for him on a daily basis, and believed our combat missions to identify and neutralize terrorists in Iraq made a difference. A difference which saved countless Iraqi and coalition lives. Matt was always in high spirits, easy to talk to, and highly motivated. He had a gift of breaking down cultural and language barriers, through his embracing smile, glimmering eyes, body language, and passion of talking about his favorite sport, soccer, and favorite team. When Matt took a break from work, he moved to his other passion which was his family. Frequently, the phone would ring late at night and everyone knew it was for Matt without answering. Matt would always get huge care packages in the mail and share them with everyone. He was extremely brave, feared nothing, and was a true warrior. He was our little brother and comrade at arms who saved our lives on countless occasions and gave his life so others may live. He adored his parents and continuously talked about his beautifully gifted sister. He will never be forgotten. . . by his family, AFOSI comrades, or EDET 2410 teammates…we all are better for knowing him and this world is a safer place because of his contributions. He paid the ultimate sacrifice so others may live, thus, we must never forget him.

We can thank enough those brave warriors that lay down their life for this great country. Thank god there are still Americans like this who answer the call. Those officers that are deployed to Iraq are at the point of the speer. Still, I know there are no words to comfort the sad parents that are left behind. Please know you are not alone in your grief.

When I joined “Kugs” for a couple of missions during his first trip to Kirkuk - I was impressed with his confidence and courage and his ability to hold his own amongst such a capable team of agents. Kugs was so enthusiastic about what he was doing for his country -- He believed in it and was understandably proud of it.

He wrote me in January about his desire to get back to Iraq and contribute -- "I can’t wait to get back in the fight. That is just what we do."

Matt’s personality and smile made him hard not to like.

It was an honor to know and serve with Matt. It was my privilege to call him my friend and I am thankful for the time I knew him.

He is a hero of mine and he will be missed.

I hope all of his family and many friends are well - please accept my deepest condolences.

Rest in peace, my friend.
