The men and women who fight this war day in and day out are to be highly commended. Please know there ae alot of prayers going out to you during your time of grief and that your son/brother/cousin whatever, didn't die in vain. He DID save someone else.

Officer West your death breaks my heart. I cannot stop crying. This is not suppose to happen in my community and to any member of the Cleveland Hts Police force. Your death is so tragic. I will not forget you.

To all the members of the Cleveland Heights Police I want you to know how much I appreciate you. Thank you for protecting and serving us. I would not be a resident here if it were not for your excellent police work. You make our community safe, and a wonderful place to live.

Dear Family, Friends and fellow Officers of Officer West-
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time. I can truthfully say that when an officer is killed, every department mourns with you. Brave, Selfless, Caring, Admirable, are words that come to mind for anyone in this field. To do this job, you have to have those attributes, and I know Officer West did. My prayers are for peace, healing and forgiveness. Sadly, I wish I could guarantee that no one ever had to walk this path again, but as we know, these special people continue to fight for our safety and put their lives on the line every day. May peace and love find a place in your heart, and may Jason always be remembered as the amazing person he was and is.
Blessings-

I send my loving condolences to Officer West's family, friends, co-workers and all who will hear of his death and recognize the immense sacrifice that he made. Every day he put his life on the line for the benefit of others, and on Saturday, May 26, his life was taken. May his death give police officers the courage to keep on doing the best they can do to keep our people safe, uphold the law, and treat all those they encounter with the respect due them as fellow human beings. May Jason rest in peace and his family receive the love and support they need and deserve.

I saw you today, just for a brief moment, as you passed by me in a horse drawn carriage, coffin draped with the American flag, fellow officers in the front and fellow officers in the back. I saw the faces of your family as they walked behind you, saddened, but also proud. I glanced at my children and saw admiration in their eyes, yet sorrow. We will miss you Jason. Your death is not in vein. Your light will shine in the hearts of my children....especially my daughter, who wants to carry on your memory. You see, she has always wanted to be a police officer...and seeing you today just solidified the fact. She wants to help others just like you did. She's a junior at Avon High School, your alma mater. I will make sure she carries on your passion in caring for others. No, Jason, you did not die in vein. You have lit another candle..passing the torch to another future fellow police officer. We thank you and will never, never forget you!

God bless all the work you have done in the community, Jason. You will be missed by so many. You will NEVER be forgotten. Thank you for your service to the CHPD.

To the West family- God is in control now. He and Jason are watching over you and his fellow policemen. I hope through this senseless tragedy you will see how many people loved Jason and appreciated all the wonderful things he did in his short life. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.
