Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Marvin Jerome Scarlett

Rest in peace, you will not be forgotten

PLEASE READ!!!!
I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who have visited and left a reflection for Marvin. Words cannot express the emotion we feel to read from officers all over the country as well as citizens, d Marvin's classmates, and his colleagues at Miami-Dade Corrections. I visit this several times a day because it gives me peace and strength to cope with this difficult time. Marvin was a great road Deputy and his time was cut way too short, but God has called him for another duty.
Again, thanks to all of you. You are a blessing and you give hope to surviving co-workers and especially surviving familes everywhere.

Deputy Todd Duffey
Henry County Sheriff-McDonough, GA

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Officer Haist was HCPD and was killed about the same time of day and off the same exit, so this is very personal to us. Our hearts go out to you all. Thank you Deputy Scarlett for your service. "Blessed are the peacekeepers, for they shall be called the children of God." Matt 5:9.

From the time I met Marvin over 20 years ago, I was and am proud to call him my friend. From the memories in college, on and off the field, to the hunting and fishing trips, and the phone conversations we later shared, ALL WILL BE TREASURED. If you were fortunate enough to have come in to contact with "Scarlett" you were truly blessed. Rest well my brother, you have run a good race. You will be in my thoughts and memories till my time ends and we laugh together again.

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Deputy Scarlett, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest
