Tony, You are greatly missed. There are times when I think about working with you at the radio station(KZEY) and how you were a mentor for me. You and I talked about law enforcement and I think of how you encouraged me to go into the field to serve and protect. You said,"BJ, you'll be a good officer for Smith County and the Tyler community." Thank you for all the encouraging words. There are days when I look at my cell phone and I see your number 903-489-0914, you have been and still are an inspriation for me. I miss you, but I'm thankful that you are in a better place. Love you and Pat.

Today marks 2 years since that tragic day. Myself, Deputy Patterson, Janelle Dunnington, and your wonderful wife traveled to Austin recently to honor your name and your sacrifice at the 2009 TX Peace Officers Memorial. It was a wonderful ceremony and even made the front page of the Athens Daily Review, to remind everyone that we have not forgotten our fallen heroes. Your are sorely missed by everyone that knew you. You were a wonderful man and it was such an honor to have been your friend. Until we meet again, rest in peace.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the second anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I hold your family in thought and prayer today and pray for their solace.

Tony,
Even though its been 1 year and 8 months since you were taken from us, I still miss you like it was yesterday. I miss your smile and your positive outlook on life. You made such a valuable impression on everyone who knew you. You made so many peoples lives better just for knowing you. I think of you everyday, and take comfort in knowing that you are in a far better place. I know that what happened on 5/17/07 was a part of God's plan, but it is still so hard to understand why. I just wanted to thank you for being you, and for giving advice to a certain person :) I miss you so very much! Your family will always be in my prayers.

I COME HERE OFTEN TO SEE ALL THE REFLECTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN LEFT AND MAYBE TO KEEP YOU ALIVE AND APART OF OUR LIVES. YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN AND YOU WILL FOREVER BE HONORED. LIL TONY ASKED ME LAST NIGHT IF YOU WERE WATCHING HIM IN FOOTBALL PRACTICE... (SORT OF THE SAME WAY HE DID IN BASEBALL PRACTICE). THE KIDS, THEY ARE GETTING SO BIG, DAD, AND SO GROWN UP I KNOW YOU WOULD BE SO PROUD OF THEM. THOSE TWO BOYS LOOK SO MUCH LIKE YOU AND ACT SO MUCH LIKE THEIR DADDY!!!! (I KNOW THAT PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE) WE MISS YOU SO MUCH AND OUR HEARTS STILL HURT ALMOST AS BAD AS THEY DID ON MAY 17, 2007. WE STILL HAVE MANY SLEEPLESS AND TEARFUL NIGHTS THINKING OF YOU AND I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT WE PROBABLY ALWAYS WILL. EVERY TIME RANDALL IS JUMPING IN PLACE ON HIS TIP-TOES IN FRONT OF THE T.V. I CAN SEE YOUR SMILE AND HEAR YOUR LAUGH AND YOU SAYING, "TONY WAS THE SAME WAY... JUST EXACTLY THE SAME". I WOULD GIVE ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD TO HEAR THOSE WORDS AGAIN. I AM SELFISH, DAD. I AM SELFISH FOR ME AND MY CHILDREN. WE WANT YOU HEAR WITH US. THE KIDS TAKE IT HARDER THAN ANYONE SINCE THEY DONT HAVE THEIR DADDY AND YOU ARE AWAY FROM US NOW TOO. MICHAEL TEEL SAID IT BEST WHEN HE TOLD ME THAT YES WE ARE ALL SELFISH AND WE WANT THEM HERE WITH US BUT YOU AND PAUL ARE IN A BETTER PLACE THAN WE ARE AND WE WANT YALL TO REST IN PEACE. KEVIN HALBERT MADE ME FEEL BETTER WHEN HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT YOU AND PAUL ARE "REAL COP'S COPS" AND THAT EVEN IF YOU AND PAUL WOULD HAVE KNOWN THE OUTCOME BOTH OF YALL WOULD HAVE STILL ANSWERED THE CALL WITHOUT HESITATION. YOU AND PAUL ARE TRULEY MY HEROS AND YOUR BRAVERY WILL LIVE THROUGH ME WHEN I AM ON MY WATCH. WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND WOULD DO ANYTHING TO SEE YOU AGAIN. WE ALL KNOW WE WILL ON THE OTHER SIDE.... SO UNTIL THEN. WE LOVE YOU DAD!

I LOVE YOU GRANDDADDY LOVE RANDALL

As your family, friends and those to whom you are tied by the thin blue line journey through this the last day of "firsts", I pray that they feel the hand of God. A good jury of 12 brought a conviction and penalty for this person's actions -- but the true desire of your loved ones is to have you back.
We, your extended brothers and sisters of the badge, will never forget. A HERO walks with angels and has our back every day. Thank you for your service.

Though I never met Tony, I can't help thinking of him when I think of Paul. On Monday 05-12-08 the Grand Prairie Police Dept. held their Police Memorial Service. Two names were called that day which brought a flood of memories rushing to the surface. Those names were TONY OGBURN and PAUL HABELT. My wife Trish and I were honored to represent their memories. I still do not fully understand why the event of 05-17-07 had to happen, but I do know that GOD was there and in control. Heaven celebrated that day upon Tony and Paul's arrival. May God continue to wrap his family in his arms and hold them close. Tony and Paul's memory will live on now and forever more.

We had a memorial service today at our office to honor all of the fallen officers. The names of all 22 Texas peace officers who died in the line of duty were read, I was honored to stand at a table we had set up for you and Paul, when I was asked to read a tribute to Paul after another officer read your tribute, I thought it would be an easy thing for me to do. When your tribute was finished I could hardly speak but yet found the ability to read. You were such a fine officer and a great man, please know that we all miss you. Thanks for being a true friend.

officer ogburn was an honest god fearing man that lived by his convictions. i have an ex husband that was on the wrong side of the law on life support that ogburn was on duty to guard. ogburn was kind and firm with me. he helped me make a decision that more than likely saved my future...maybe even my life. i saw him many times after that at the kammans store that he looked after on the weekends. i would always say hello but never took the oppertunity to let him know how much his kindness and prayers meant to me. i can only hope that he knows now all the lives he impacted with just being him self. god bless his family. he is the fortunate one...he gets to dance with the angels. we all miss you, we as human beings are selfish by wanting you here with us. but, we all know you are at a better place and a higher ground. your impact on society will never be forgotten and hopefully never taken for granted.

Remembering with a smile, "564 to your call #, 10-20, enroute." Brother, GOD knows how much i miss the daily talks in the evening @ the PD. As the day would come to an end it would be full of stresses and unknowns, but u always had that understanding, comforting advice. If i could only know half of what u had forgotten.
