Billy,
Hey there....It is so amazing to see all the activities that are being held in your honor. You are being honored for the amazing person you were. God took one great person from us. It hurts today as much as the first day. Not a day goes by that you are not thought of. I still listen to your voice message you left me it brings back many happy memories hearing it. Miss you very much!

I was honored to sit at the service in Ocean Grove for you and the other two police officers from NJ that were taken last year. Today's ceremony was moving and although words can't explain how much of a hero you are, these come close:

"Did you ever know that you're my hero
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings"

Thank You for everything

Hey Nich,
I can't believe its been a year but I should since I'll never forget the day you left. Washington will be something I will NEVER forget. I laugh to myself saying it would have been much more fun with you there. Rudy, Gary and I were walking by the memorial right before the midnight piper. Somehow it was perfect timing. I would trade the entire trip to have you back with the crew at the Showboat.
P.S. what was up with all the fire trucks???

Billy,
I still can't believe your gone. I am so glad we reconnected the weekend before your death, I think God wanted us to heal our friendship. I was so looking forward to seeing you that wed night but God was calling you home. You had been such an important part of my life and I will never forget you. I find myself thinking of you more and more and wishing we had more time. I know we will meet again.
Your wife and daughters are always in my prayers.

Love ya,

Wow Uncle Nich! One whole year since you have left us. It seems like only yesterday when I recieved the call sitting in class, I couldn't believe my ears. You were and will always continue to be a strong point in my life. Being in Washington, D.C. was incredible but so surreal at the same time. Seeing your name on the Memorial Wall and hearing your name called in the Roll Call of Heros was special because you deserve to be honored, but in a sense, you deserve to be here. Wednesday Aunt Lisa and I had a few beers and just talked of all the stories the three of us shared. I Love You so much Uncle Nichie and you will always live strong in my heart. Here is to you and maybe next year I will be riding a bike to D.C. to honor you in the Police Unity Tour. I Love You Uncle Nichie.

Billy,
It was a rough day on Wednesday even worse was Tuesday into Wednesday night being at work and going over the same time as last year when you text me from work. I still have your text message on my phone from that night. All I can say over and over is why did this have to happen to you. Its so unfair you are missed every day. You are one of the most amazing human being I have ever met and it has been a rough year. If only we could turn back time or have one more day. I miss you so much. Your girls are always in my prayers I know what they meant to you. Keep watching over them and they will know that you still live on in their hearts. God Bless.
Luv U

Billy,
As I sit here, I don't know where to start. First, I am proud to have known you and been your friend. I am so glad that I got to talk with you just prior to your death. I see Lisa and the girls every once in a while and they are growing up beautifully. I was so poud to ride out of Lakewood P.D. in your honor on the Police Unity Tour. When I saw your name engraved in stoneat the Memorial, it hit me hard. You were and still are someone that I look up too. I know you will keep a watch over your family, friends, and all Law Enforcement. Until we meet again...

Nichie--it's been a year since you have been gone. A group of Lakewood officers are in Washington DC honoring your memory. There was a service at headquarters to see a contingency of bicyclists off to the memorial in DC. The accident site is a beautiful tribute to you and your service to the people of Lakewood. Your memory will always live in the hearts and thoughts of the Lakewood Police families. Rest in Peace.

You don’t know me but I lost my brother Rob Ventura in 2001 in the line of duty. He was a Jackson TWP police officer. My sister-in-law Jennifer left today from your police dept to ride with the bike unity tour in your honor. We are so proud of her; she is a strong and remarkable woman. A day doesn’t goes by that I don’t think of my brother and the families that lost a love one so tragically, especially when it hits close to home. I wish your family peace during this difficult time.

Dear Nichie,
Hard to think it's been a year gone by, seems like yesterday I was stuffing all my old SRT gear into a green army bag and throwing it into your truck. I remember thinking, "Most of this stuff will be way to small for him, but at least I won't have it laying in my backseat anymore". You where happy to take it (I'm sure thinking to yourself, his shirts and BDU's won't fit me) and I knew you were going to be a great SRT member. Anyway, we spruced up the site yesterday, I hope you like it. You are truly missed my brother!

Hey Billy,
Remembering what today was and I have to say just thinking about it brought a smile to my face, but at the same time I am sad that you aren't here today to enjoy it with me. So I will think of you today as always and remember the memories of this day. You were so funny and how we laughed about it after the fact. It was perfect and I wouldn't change a thing about it! Miss you very much every day!

Wow! I can't believe it has been almost a yr, and its taken this long for me to be able to leave anything on here, to this day it is still so hard, but it't time. I remember the good times we all had with you before you even began your job and how happy you were when you actually started. From day one you always had that "Nichie" smile that we all know, love, and will never forget. Over the year you would be so proud of all of your family and your many friends, everyone is watching out for eachother just like we know that you are. Some days are harder than others, but I don't think that any days have passed that you are not somewhere in all of our minds as you will always be somewhere in all of our hearts. Some of us have had some hard times lately, and when I am in the middle of lifes moments that seem almost impossible, I stop and I remember that we have a guardian angel watching out for us and for a moment I find peace and know that you are always on watch and things will somehow in time be worked out. We don't know why bad things happen to good people, as it seems so often the case, and I am thinking that none of us will ever have that answer. But just know as you watch over us all we too are looking up and thinking of you, always in our hearts...until next time.

"To Where You Are"

Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memory's so clear

Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be (?)
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen

As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are my
Forever love
Watching me from up above

And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave

Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are
