Reflections for Police Officer William "Nichie" Preslar

William,

I had the privilege of meeting your wife Lisa and your daughter Julia yesterday under very unfortunate circumstances - at the viewing of New Jersey State Trooper Marc Castellano. The mere fact that they were able to be there for the Castellano family so shortly after their own tragic loss demonstrates the strength and grace that has surely gotten them through the past 3 years and will continue to see them through the difficult times ahead. I am sure you are looking down on them with pride.

I WENT TO DC FOR POLICE WEEK FOR THE FIRST TIME.. WHAT A WONDERFUL CEREMONY THEY HAD ON THURS. IT WAS SO NICE TO SEE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE COME TOGETHER TO HONOR OUR FALLEN OFFICERS. WE WERE WITH SOME OF LAKEWOOD'S FINEST ON YOUR 3RD ANNIVERSARY AND TOASTED YOU. YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE ALWAYS IN MY PRAYERS. RIP

I don't know if it was you or some other force watching over our four brothers who were shot this week, but I'd like to think you did have a hand in keeping them safe and bringing them home to their families. You are in our hearts and thoughts daily, and again Nichie, thank you for watching over our injured brothers.

OH ALMIGHTY GOD,
WHOSE GREAT POWER AND ETERNAL
WISDOM EMBRACES THE UNIVERSE,
WATCH OVER ALL POLICEMEN AND
LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.
PROTECT THEM FROM HARM
IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR DUTY
TO STOP CRIME, ROBBERIES
RIOTS AND VIOLENCE.
WE PRAY, HELP THEM KEEP
OUR STREETS AND HOMES SAFE
DAY AND NIGHT.
WE RECOMMEND THEM TO
YOUR LOVING CARE
BECAUSE THEIR DUTY IS DANGEROUS
GRANT THEM YOUR UNENDING STRENGTH AND
COURAGE IN THEIR DAILY ASSIGNMENTS.
DEAR GOD, PROTECT THESE
BRAVE MEN & WOMEN,
GRANT THEM YOUR ALMIGHTY
PROTECTION,
UNITE THEM SAFELY WITH THEIR
FAMILIES AFTER DUTY HAS ENDED.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the second anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Hey Billy, It's amazing how I sit with a bunch of the guys at work and we tell stories about what happened to each other out in the field. Whats amazing is I never realized how many calls we did together because when I talk I always seem to bring up a story about you and me or I tell everyone that Billy used to do that. See, You Are STill With Us, never forgotten. Miss ya bro

I was at my parents the other day for Thanksgiving and was thinking about how you used to come over Lisa's parents in your old Silver/Black Dodge. I remeber how much of a fire wanker you were,<---- just kidding. you know with your short sleeve shirts cuffed and your big sticker on the back of your truck. Oh well It's those little things that stick out. I miss ya.

My husband and I honor you, Officer Preslar. I can tell by the reflections left here just how much your family misses you.
And each time we drive by your relatives house in Florida, I think of you and say a prayer for all your family and friends, especially your mom because I know her pain. May God bless them all and keep them in His safe care. From all I have read, I believe your daughters will be well-loved and cared for, but they will miss you so. Thank you for being one of America's Finest.
