REST IN PEACE OFFICER NICHIE. TRULY A TRAGEDY TO BE TAKEN FROM THIS LIFE AT SUCH AN EARLY AGE. THE STRENGTH OF THOSE WHO HAVE KNOWN YOU WILL ALLOW YOUR FAMILY TO CARRY-ON YOUR MEMORY AS A FATHER, HUSBAND, SON AND FRIEND.

ALTHOUGH OUR POLICE CAREERS NEVER MET, THE THOUGHT OF YOUR DEDICATION ALLOWS ALL POLICE OFFICERS TO BE LINKED BY THE SMALLEST OF PARTICULARS. THAT WE MAY GO OUT IN THE LINE OF DUTY EACH DAY WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ON OUR MIND.

KNOWING THAT YOU GAVE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE PERMITS US TO DO OUR JOB KNOWING THAT YOU ARE WATCHING OVER US.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY FOR ENTERNITY.

P/O DAN FEGLEY
PHILADELPHIA POLICE DEPT-15TH DISTRICT

May 23, 2007

The policeman stood and faced God,

Which must always come to pass.

He hoped his shoes were shining,

Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.

How shall I deal with you?

Have you always turned the other cheek?

To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,

"No lord, I guess I ain't,

Because those of us who carry a badge

can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,

and at times my talk was rough,

and sometimes I've been violent,

Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,

That wasn't mine to keep

Though I worked a lot of overtime

When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,

Though at time I shook with fear.

And sometimes, God forgive me,

I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place

Among the people here.

They never wanted me around

Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,

It needn't be so grand.

I never expected or had too much,

But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne

Where the saints had often trod.

As the policeman waited quietly,

For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,

You've born your burdens well.

Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,

You've done your time in hell"

Sgt. Justin K. Nevels
Clinton P.D.

Nichie:
I still can't believe that this horrific event has taken you from Lisa, Julia and Gracie. I will miss you dearly, as my heart has shattered. Knowing that you won't be on the couch playing with the girls, or outside pushing them on their swings when I come to the house, has sadden me beyond words. I need you to know that I will be there for Lisa, Julia and Gracie, not only today or tomorrow, but forever. You are my "brother", but you are also my friend!
Love and miss you "Nich", forever!
