Reflections for Corporal N. Bruce McKay, III

Corporal McKay,

You will not be forgotten. Your watch is over, we've got it from here. You're safe now walking the streets of gold in Heaven. Watch over us and gently steer us in the right direction away from danger.

To the Marine.. hoorah! God Bless you sir, for you are truly a hero. May God watch over you and your family and keep you safe, as you have kept us.

To Corporal McKay's family there are no words that can help. But you are not alone. The thin blue line family is far and wide. You will always be a part of it.

God Bless and God Speed to Cpl. McKay...

As for the civilian, if there is any better case for the Carnegie Medal for Civilan Heroism, I can't think of it. Here's the requirements and link to nominate.

In a society where mediocrity is celebrated and psuedo celebrities are held high, my daughter will know the story of Cpl. McKay and the man who cared enough to stop, protect the fallen, and take action.

A POLICEMAN'S PRAYER
BROTHER WHEN YOU WEEP FOR ME REMEMBER THAT IT WAS MEANT TO BE.
LAY ME DOWN AND WHEN YOU LEAVE REMEMBER I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE...IN EVERY DARK AND DREARY ALLEY I'LL BE THERE AS YOU SLOWLY TREAD, ON EVERY STREET CORNER IN THE DRIVING SNOW I'LL HOLD YOUR COAT AND YOU WILL KNOW.
IN PLACES WHERE THE DEVIL IS AFRAID TO WALK...
AT DOORS WHERE YOU MEET RESISTANCE...
IN HOUSES WHERE CHILDREN HIDE...
YOU KNOW I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE.
THE PLACE FROM WHICH I NOW RESPOND IS OVERSTAFFED WITH HEROES GONE...MEN WHO ANSWERED ONE LAST JOB AND DID IT WELL.
AS POLICEMEN WE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A CARD DEALT IN OUR HAND...A CARD WE HOPE WE NEVER PLAY BUT WE HOLD IT THERE ANYWAY.
THE CARD IS SOMETHING WE IGNORE AS WE STAND ON THAT THIN BLUE LINE EVERY TOUR...FOR WE KNOW THAT WE ARE THE ONLY PRAYER FOR MANY OUT THERE.
SO REMEMBER, AS YOU WIPE YOUR TEARS, THE JOY I HAVE KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE YEARS...AS THE JOB I LOVED TO DO I PRAY THAT THIS THOUGHT WILL SEE YOU THROUGH.

Cpl.McKay, It is hard to think of what to say! Thank you seems so inadequate. But, sir I do thank you from the bottom of my heart. You were a hero in life, and now also in your death. Your willingness to serve and to lay down your life speaks immesurable volumes. To the fomer Marine, obviously sir you are one of the "few good men". You are a hero, too! I am thankful that the justice of God was swift and most efficient in this incident. To the McKay family, I am praying for God's comfort and grace to cover you like a blanket at this time. He will give you the strength you need to make it through this great trial. To Franconia PD, I am praying for you as you have lost a family member also. Be safe as you continue the watch. I have many fond childhood memories of summertime in Littleton and Franconia. Thank you for all you do. Romans 13:4!
