Corporal McKay it has been months since that tragic event that took your life. The most recent debate on naming a stretch of road in you memory has since divided the north country and sparked debate amongst those who support you and those who support the other side. In the end I hope it is you who prevails because you made the ultimate sacrifice doing a job you loved and protecting a community you ever so deeply cared for. While there is no sign dawning your name on a stretch of 93 rest easy knowing that nobody has forgotten you and your name will forever live on in the hearts of your family, friends and the stated of New Hampshire. You are deeply missed brother...

As I read this I feel sad that one more member of our law enforcement family had to pay the ultimate price to protect the freedoms we all enjoy. However I have two reasons to feel happy. # 1. The suspect was found guilty instantly by the bullet that hit him and he is dead now. Reason # 2. The civilian that shot him was not charged with any crime. It is a shame how in many places criminals have more rights than law binding citizens. It never fails you have an attorney that has no clue on real life events and because they were able to memorize a law book and pass a bar-exam that they are God's gift to the community, but they lack common sense when it comes use common sence from right and wrong.

Bruce,

I had the opportunity to meet your fiance Sharon this past summer. Even through her grief she was able to be supportive to so many others who'd lost their loves in the line of duty. She's such a beautiful lady. It's easy to see why you loved her. Know that even though your life has ended, the love you two shared will live on.

Bruce, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.

Big Hugs,

Jocelyne :)

My First Christmas in Heaven

I see the countless Christmas trees
around the world below
With tiny lights like Heaven's stairs,
reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so spectacular,
please wipe away the tear
For I am spending Christmas with
J***s this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs
that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can't compare
with the Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you,
the joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description,
to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart.
But I am not so far away,
We really aren't apart.

So be happy for me, dear ones,
You know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas
with J***s this year.

I sent you each a special gift,
from my heavenly home above,
I sent you each a memory
of my undying love.

After all love is a gift more precious
than pure gold. It was always most important
in the stories J***s told.

Please love and keep each other,
as my Father said to do.
For I can't count the blessing or love
he has for each of you.

So have a Merry Christmas and
wipe away that tear.
Remember, I am spending Christmas with
J***s this year.

It is sad to know that our society has come to this. As for the marine who stepped in, he should be given the medal of merit. Great job soldier (if you read this).

Being from a state which borders NH, I had heard about the tragic death of Mr. McKay. I had not heard however, that his killer was given "Instant Justice" by an equally brave citizen. Thank you sir, whoever you are.

Bruce, RIP brother. As your academy roommate I wanted to thank you and let everyone know how much you influenced people's lives in a positive way. Without you I may have not made it through the academy. As I was just a young cop, you gave me wisdom and guidance that was truly needed. You took so much anxiety and stress away from our daily activites. I look back and think that this has shaped the way I approach stressful situations. I enter with the calm relaxed demeanor that you showed me early on in my career. I have been in Law Enforcement for over 12 years now and have become very successful in my career. Thank you for your guidance early on as I began to form my career. For everyone else we attended the academy with, 109, LOUD AND PROUD, STAY SAFE!!!

Cpl. McKay I stumbled over your dash cam video the other day and I can only cry and cry. Few truly appreciate or understand that it is just as dangerous for us who patrol the small towns and rural areas of this nation most citizens simply look at the size of our agencies, poulation of the town and overlook the fact that there are bad, evil subhuman lifeforms everywhere and that as small town police we deal with the same dangerous people over and over and usually do so ALONE we have no cavalry to come save the day or partner riding shotgun just our training and instinct. I have read multiple accounts of your bravery both prior to and on this tragic day and I am deeply saddened at your brutal murder at least he was brought to justice swiftly and there was no delay in allowing him to burn in the fires of hell. In closing your life and the way that you lived and died truly exemplified why we have to make those lonely traffic stops on backroads for it is officers such as yourself that are the barrier between order and anarchy and stand as an example to the rest of us who wear the badge Thank You for holding that Blue Line and may you rest in peace sir as you have fought the good fight.

Dear Bruce
Thinking of you today on your 49th birthday. Although I seem to come back to how you were taken from us, I am definitely thinking of the most incredible person ever who was born on this day 49 years ago, and how you positively changed and influenced the lives of so many people while you were with us. I celebrate you and everything you stand for!

Hey Baboo
it's your pesky sister, Moon, writing again. 2 weekends I returned from my first C.O.P.S Maryland Chapter healing retreat in Ocean City. I met some incredible families, officers, and dispatchers who were very supportive and who shared my pain of losing you through their own loss of losing someone the loved or worked with closely. I spent alot of time with the dispatchers. I seem to really connect with the types of people who choose that job on a level that means it may be my calling to do the same job someday to pay it forward. Who knows...so far, at least, I have joined the Fire Department in my little town and help them with fundraisers and washing the trucks. It all makes me think of you and all of the community service you did since you were in college, which is a big reason why I joined. I heard your voice this weekend from a tape that my friend recorded of your answering machine greeting before it was boxed up. It was nice to hear you again!

Love you always and eternally,
Meggen

Dearest Bruce

well, who knew in a million years that I would be resuming ties with people from your past. I have contact now with buddies from your high school and college, and it gives me great pleasure knowing how much they thought of you and the great memories they recall. I hope to find more of your old friends over time, even if it is just one conversation to share a nice memory and update them on the amazing person you were and still are. You are in my mind all the time and I know you are happy, peaceful and watching us all down here.

Love you!

This writer is origially from the North country so naturally thought of you when I was leaving a rememberence for Officer Briggs.

I am so sorry for what happened that day, sorry for you, your family, policy family and friends.

However I am pleased that your shooter was quickly brought to justice as it should be.

You could have let your killer win the traffic stops, confrontations, but you wouldn't let him gain the power over you, as next it would have been the citizens and only Heaven knows what could have happened. You did the right thing, you stood your ground, and did your job. You deserve our respect for that, your deserve our respect because of your committment, and you deserve our respect because as a police offier you did your job, to stop what was ever next on his agenda.

This writer is pelased that justice was quickly served on your behalf by another Citizens.

Rest in Peace, god bless you, your family, police family and pleased continue to watch over all of our others officers that out out there day and night doing their job.

Hey Bruce:

Just a short shout out to you to let you know you are not forgotten. I am here today because of another brother officer (Mike Briggs Manchester NH). The 1 yr anniversary of his murder brought me here where I felt compelled to write something to him. Because of that, I then thought of you and the ultimate sacrifice you gave.

As I think back to our academy days, I always remember looking up to the back of the class room to see if anyone was nodding off. For some unknown reason, you always stayed awake. Not really sure how you were so successful. Maybe the rest of us were just slackers. Anyway, the academy would not have been the same without your presence.

You are missed each and every day. Rest in peace Bruce... you deserve it. Say hello to Briggs, Charron and the rest of the Granite State representatives up there with you.

You will never be forgotten.

A fellow officer
