While others run away from danger, officers run to it. It goes against human instinct to do this, but every single day officers are running into harm's path for the sake of others. I can think of no selfless sacrifice greater than that. Thank you for serving humankind and making this world a better, safer place. And to Mrs. Buckman, hold your memories close, and know you have the support and love of the law enforcement community and our good Lord. I pray that you all have the strength to endure this incredibly difficult time in your life.

God bless you and your family Officer Buckman.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Buckman and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Officer Buckman has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends of Officer Buckman, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Buckman is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Aloha Police Officer Robert (Tim) Buckman,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life last year in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum; a keeper of the ODMP light. That light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here.

This "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is a hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find solace as we give solace to the families who have lost a loved one.

Police Officer Robert (Tim) Buckman, God Bless you. You are a hero. As we say in Hawaii, “You are`Ohana.” “You are Family.” No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one; not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in His Divine peace. I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers, peace and love beyond all understanding. I honor you today. You will NEVER be forgotten.

--"Your life is much more important than you can imagine."--Maya Angelou

** May this Hawaiian prayer give all those who read it comfort. **

THE PEACE OF " I "

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.

Most of the time we think of our police heros defending us against evil and we forget that the job they do is wide and varied. We not only protect from evil but put ourselves in harms way to help. Officer Buckman selflessly did just that, risking his own life to help others. Officer Buckmans actions defined the word hero. Now he is with god and so many other heros. Rest in peace brother and and may god bless and watch over your family until you meet again.
