To the Family of Officer Buckman:

My heart was heavy as I listened to your story on the Today Show this morning. May it help in some small way to know my prayers are with all of you during this most difficult time.

Although I do not know the pain as a spouse or parent, I do know the pain as a mother of a young son who died doing a job he loved. His children were 18 months old and 22 days old respectively.

It takes a very special individual to do the job these men and women do. Officer Buckman was a very special person of whom you will always be proud and so will your community. As a husband and father who chose to protect and serve, Officer Buckman is one of our heroes.

God bless you all and may your pain ease in the years to come.

When others would run away -- you ran toward danger with the intent to help and save people you probably didn't even know. Now, your brothers and sisters in blue (and brown and green and tan) mourn with your family, friends and department.
Our prayers are with your family and friends. We have your watch....rest easy.
