God bless the family of Officer Silver. It saddens me to come on here and see that we have a lost another law enforcement officer. I did not know Officer Silver personally, but he was indeed my law enforcement brother as well as fraternity brother. He will always be rememebered in our hearts.

My heart is very heavy as I type this reflection. Since his death, not a day go by that I don't think about Officer Alan Christopher Silver. He was more to me than a Rocky Mount Police Officer. Alan was a homeboy, fraternity brother, friend and a very close friend of my sons. I am proud to say that we considered him as a member of the family. The character, humble spirit, and mannerable demeanor he exemplified let everyone he came in contact with know, that he was reared with strong christian values. The same values I tried to instill in my children.

I am as proud of him as if he was my own son. One of the proudest moments he and I shared was when he told me that he had pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and he was now my "frat brother." Alan was a true Sigma Man and mirrorred the high standards of the fraternity as expressed in our motto, "Culture For Service & Service For Humanity." He exemplified the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship and service. I echo the quote of Sigma Brother Reginald Silver, "My Brother is a Hero." (Blue Phi)

The only time I questioned Alans' decision was when he told me of his desire to become a State Trooper. Like a concern parent, I asked are you sure. He did not hesitate, but in a clear respectable response answered, "yes sir." After seeing how focused and enthused he was about his career choice, I put him in contact with a friend, Master Trooper Robert Backus. Not knowing at the time that their paths had already crossed. Law enforcement was his dream career, his calling that he took serious and performed with great pride.

Alvin and Glendora, you did an awsome job in rearing Alan. He is an example of a true role model. Young people should pay close attention to how Alan proved through the life he lived, that you can live a christian life at a young age in todays world.

My prayers and thoughts are with you and I will always be here for support. Alan acheived his ultimate goal, that goal was to be home (heaven) with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

God Bless...Amen

I would like to express to you my deepest sympathy in the loss of your son, brother and boyfriend. I know you were very proud to know that he was doing exactly what he wanted to do in life and doing it well. My husband was also very dedicated to the RMPD and was very enthusiastic about helping and serving his community. Sounds as if Thomas would have enjoyed working with Alan.

Thomas passed away June 28, 2006 from cancer. I know you lost Alan in a different way, but we still share the same
loss. I was very saddened to hear of this tradegy for you and RMPD. The RMPD will be their for you when you need them.

We can have the peace and assurance knowing that they are both in a much better place. May God give you the strength and comfort that you need during this time. My prayers and thought are with you continually.

God Bless.

Alan was one of the most kind and gentle souls that I will ever have the pleasure of knowing. He treated everyone with the upmost honor and respect and that is what made him the wonderful person that he was. He was always willing to go out of his way to help, never once being selfish. He was the kind of friend that you could call in the middle of the night and he would wake up to talk to you about nothing if it would make you feel better. His smile was contagious and his love for life will never be forgotten. If every man could be atleast half of the man that Alan was, this world would be such a better place. I will miss him more than anyone will ever know. Thank you Alan, for teaching me how to love others and also how to love myself. You are wonderful and not a day will go by that I won't think of you and miss you. I know you will be watching over us, continuing to "protect and serve". It was a great pleasure to know you and to be considered your friend.
