Just a few minutes ago, I opened my email and saw the message all officers dread...a line of duty death notification. Now I'm looking at the photo of a young officer taken from us after one year of service. As the quote goes, "part of America died today", but that part, Officer Alan Christopher Silver, will never be forgotten. My sympathy goes out to Officer Silver's family and friends as well as my brothers and sisters of Rocky Mount PD. Rest easy officer, your tour of duty is over.

I was just checking the reflections of our own fallen hero, Officer Luke Hoffman (EOW 4/27/2007) and am so sorry to read of this loss. What a tragic end to a young promising life. I know firsthand the raw emotion that you must be feeling. You are not alone.

Officer Silver will never be forgotten.

"To those who pledge to uphold it, freedom requires a sacrifice the protected will never know."

RIP Silver - your brothers and sisters in blue have it from here.
