Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Raul V. Gama

Only after all this time can I post to tell you how you are missed.
We attended the academy together and then worked the ELA / Monterey Park Area together. It hurts every year when I think how this all happened on the 20th anniversary of our academy graduation, which also happened to be my birthday. Rest easy Gama, you were a true hero if there ever was one.

Raul,

I'll never forget the day that you & I met. I was walking home from Lincoln and there you were in your Cable Truck.... Never did I think that you & I would become great friends. You were always there when I needed you. I'll remember the countless hours we spent talking on the phone through your time in the Academy and the years to come in MCJ. Along with all our dates, I'll Remember you & your Wonderful Smile. I'm Truly Sadden to find out that You Have Left This World Behind. I Loved You Then & I Love You Still.... Rest In Paradise

God Bless you Sir/Brother,

I stood watch over your resting place yesterday alongside my current and your former partners. I cannot tell you what an honor it was to be part of something so special.

I thank you for your legacy and service. Of what I observed yesterday, you will never be forgotten.

As you once told your wife, that if you had to do it all over again you wouldn't change a thing, me neither Sir.

Be at peace brother, we'll take it from here.

Daddy,
a day doesn't go by that i dont miss you, i need you now more than ever. i'm graduating this year it doesn't feel like 3 years.marco is now six and he is getting soo big.it pains me to know that when i graduate and i look out to the audience i wont see you there, but i know you would want to be there.veterans day was so hard for me i always thought that on that day i would walk you down the isle, when i heard the bugle i begged God to make all of this a dream.so much has changed, but the mark you left on me is still the way you left it. Ilove you soo much,i would give anything to see you the day i graduate, to hear you say the words I'm proud of you one more time. It's not fair that every other girl my age has someone like you by their side and they dont even realize it.your in my heart every single millisecond, i love you, and i miss you, i know you will be watching over us every moment.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the second anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Raul,
It's been a year now, I pray for your Family still.
I still remember your days as 26T and asking for help with those crashes in Cudahy. I had too many of my own in Commerce, but I rolled there to assist you. I was not at your memorial yesterday but, I did honor you in my own special way. Godspeed Bro.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Deputy Gama, especially to his wife. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Raul, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Raul's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Raul's life was about so much more than the way he died. Raul will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Deputy Gama, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)
