"You can shed tears that he has gone,
Or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all he's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
Or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him and only that he's gone,
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
Be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he'd want;
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on."
-Author Unknown

Sometimes it's hard not to dwell on yesterday and think about all that could have been. Trying to do my best to live for today like you always did. Smiling thinking of all the love you shared with me. You are always in my heart. Not a day goes by...
Love,
Goody

Luke-

Tomorrow night is the Candlelight Vigil down at the memorial. I just wanted to let you know that you are thought of often and that I hope you and my buddy Mike Nickerson are taking care of each other!! Tomorrow is never an easy day, but one that helps us all honor your sacrifices. You and Mike keep watching over all of us!!!

Your heroism and service is honored today as we approach the 2nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. He was shot twice when ambushed on April 23rd when he was on a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, 2 years before you were killed.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

May you continue to watch over us as the world seems to get crazier. Especially in light of the recent deaths of our brothers in Pittsburgh and Oakland. Continue to rest in peace.

My son is a Montgomery County police officer and was a very good friend of Luke's. He still misses him and often talks of their friendship. He was the kind of friend who's memory will never fade, no matter how much time passes. My son is moving to a federal job in February, but I know he feels his life was better because Luke was a part of it. Mr and Mrs Hoffman, I pray for you and your family daily. I realize that the greater the gift, the greater the grief. I know that you knew how special Luke was, but it's good to know that others knew it too.

Luke,
It's hard to believe it's coming up on 2 years since we lost you. Shift 8 loves and misses you more than you can imagine. Thank you for watching over us - I believe you are the reason our guys have not been seriously injured or worse with some of the stuff going on on the streets in Wheaton lately. Please continue to watch over and protect all of us.
You and your family continue to be in our hearts and in our prayers. 8J23 rest in peace.
