Reflections for Corporal Nick Samuel Polizzotto

To your precious wife and children, I pray that they will be comforted by the love of God and the friends and other family that surround them. While we have never met your husband and dad, we know he was special because he was a protector of the people. All of the people. And you must always feel proud of what he did. My wife and I prayerfully support you and your children and am sure when he came into God's presence, he asked Him to watch over you until you meet again. May our God be with you during this time of sadness in your lives, and help you relive the great memories of your husband and father as you go forward.

"There are two words when put together mean many different things to many different people. Two words that can put smiles on people's faces or anxiety in their hearts. Two words that may strike hatred in some and love in others. Two words that are more than just words. They are a title, an occupation, and a career.
Better yet, they are two words that describe a lifestyle. A lifestyle like no other for the men and women who choose to place a badge on their chest and promise to serve and protect. A lifestyle that may require that person to in a split second save someone's life while risking their own. A lifestyle that requires that person to face good and bad every single day that others don't see.
A lifestyle that asks that person to wake up every morning without the assurance that they will come home that night. Two words mean all that. Two words that should forever be remembered. Those two small words are Police Officer."

Again we see the act of one cowardly soul with no value for human life take the life of a man who had sworn to protect all others, disregarding his own life and safety for that cause. Again an example of good vs. evil that causes us to look skyward and ask, "Why?"
Only one being knows that answer, so instead of asking the why's and how's of Cpl. Polizzotto's death, we should celebrate his life and lift up his spirit, his soul, his family, and his friends and fellow officers in our hearts and prayers. Let us not allow another police officer's death to be in vain.
We shouldn't only support our officers during a tragedy, but honor, support, and respect them every day. Rest easy Nick, while your walk on Earth has ended, your walk with God has just begun.

My prayers go out to the family that Nick left behind. My prayers also go out to his family from the police department. Why do these senseless killings have to happen? We need to step up and protect our protectors. GOD BLESS YOU!

April 24, 2007

My heart is full of sorrow in the news of yet another brother fallen in the line of duty.
This makes 3 of my friends killed in the line of duty and 2 injured since 1997.
As law enforcement Officers we face dangers on a daily basis.
My wish is for the men and women that we proudly serve all over the United States show us the respect we deserve and recognize the job we do.
Its a sick world and even a sicker individual who would even think of killing a Police Officer, or any other Law Enforcement professional or public safety member.
Nick, you will NEVER be forgotten and you will forever live in my heart and mind as a HERO.
God Bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Your Friend
and Brother in arms.

I was shocked to hear the news. I grew up in Kosciusko county and spent a lot of my childhood in South Bend going to Notre Dame games. I was actually just there for the first time in 2 years this past Saturday. I would always look in awe of the police officers in the city. I wanted to be just like them. You guys are heroes through and through. I'm so sorry to hear of your death. Another SBPD officer down within a year. Still, officers return to their beats and keep fighting the fight, struggling to keep the streets peaceful for the citizens. Thank you so much. I will keep saying prayers for you folks and that you make it through this trying time. He will not be forgotten. :)

My deepest sympathy to the Polizzotto family. My son attend LaSalle High School with the Polizzotto kids. I cannot imagine the pain of losing a son, a brother, a Dad in such a devastating manner.

Please know all in this are mourn your loss. May God give you all the strength to endure such pain.

As a citizen I think it is so far past time to do something about The Wooden Indian Motel. Everyone knows it has a pathetic reputation in this town. When police are called there on a regular basis, it is a tradgedy waiting to happen. Step up to bat Mr. Mayor and DO SOMETHING! Do it for Cpl Nick Polizzotto!

The heartache is still so fresh thinking of Scott and his sacrifice, to protect and save lives. I woke up turned the news on and the first thing I heard was another officer has died. My heart sunk and all I could think was please not another one. My deepest sympathy goes out to Nick's friends, family, and his brothers and sisters that work along side him. I appreciate everything you all do every day.
Nick Polizzotto is a real hero. He wont be here for us to see him anymore but we will always remember what he did for us. I know that he is watching us from heaven side by side with Scott.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Corporal Polizzotto and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Corporal Polizzotto has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends of Corporal Polizzotto, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Corporal Polizzotto is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
