Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Philip Anthony Rodriguez

Rest in Peace. You will be missed. On Saturday, I was riding for another of your fallen brothers Anthony Holly. I believe we did him justice. It was a very touching tribute. My prayers are with you and your family.

P-ROD,

Dude, you cannot believe how much everyone misses you right now. I was talking to Robbie last night and we couldnt help but laugh to think about what you would say about this situation. No doubt it would crack us up.
It's hard to imagine a world without your big smile and your big ears. We love you brother.
I was telling a group of folks yesterday how when I first met you I kinda laughed about how you were a baby in a sea of adults at CARLOTA. You proved everyone wrong by being one of the most mature and level headed of the group. I remember seeing our names together as partners for a field problem and saying "YES!, I know we are going to kick butt". I'm sure every person who's ever had you as a partner or team mate felt the same.
Although you were only out there for a short while, I'm sure you were one of the best Deputies Mohave County has seen.
Keep an eye on us old guys from up above, I'll do my best to make you proud buddy.

Love ya!

AKA Supreme Burrito

P.S.....Dont forget to ask Adam if he has a belly button, I'm dying to know! Ha Ha.

"My Brother"

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.

He was a cop.

Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother.

Rest easy Brother Rodriguez, we have the watch...

”I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”
---Isaiah 6:8

You answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice. Rest easy in God's kingdom and watch over us as we continue the battle here on earth!!!

Such a young life...may God grant rest to your soul and may He provide comfort to your family, friends, and collegues during this difficult time. May they lean on Him during the days, weeks, months, and years ahead as they learn to live without their loved one. Thank you and Bless you.

As an advisor to our Explorer post and a 12 year veteran of our department, I wish the family be blessed in this tragic event. Officer Rodriguez became a hero when he gradutated from the police academy, now it is our turn to continue what he started a few months ago and take over his watch. Remember that his dream came true and that he will always be a hero in his mothers and family's eyes. Rest in peace my young brother, for I will continue the fight and take over the watch.
