THE RISKS WE FACE IN THIS JOB DO NOT CARE ABOUT AGES, RACE, GENDER, OR CAREER LENGTHS. THE DANGERS YOU FACE ON YOUR FIRST DAY ARE THE SAME THAT YOU WILL FACE 30 YEARS LATER. THERE IS A PARABLE IN THE BIBLE THAT TALKS ABOUT A MASTER SENDING WORKERS INTO THE FIELD. SOME WORK ALL DAY LONG. OTHERS ARE SENT OUT ONLY AT MID-DAY. WHEN THE DAY IS COMPLETE ALL RECIEVE THE SAME PAY. THOSE WHO WORKED THE LONGEST COMPLAIN THAT IT IS NOT FAIR FOR ALL TO RECEIVE THE SAME PAY SINCE THEY ENDURED SO MUCH MORE. JESUS EXPLAINS THAT ALL THOSE WHO WORK FOR THE KINGDOM RECEIVE THE SAME REWARD...HEAVEN, NO MATTER HOW LONG THEY ARE WORKERS IN THE KINGDOM. TO THE FAMILY OF DEPUTY RODRIGUEZ I SAY WE ARE ALL IN DEBT TO HIS SACERFICE. THE GRADITUDE WE HAVE FOR A SACERFICE SUCH AS HIS IS NOT LESSENED BY THE SHORT TIME HE SERVED. HIS REWARD WILL BE IN FULL, BOTH IN HEAVEN, AND IN OUR HEARTS.

A POLICEMAN'S PRAYER
BROTHER WHEN YOU WEEP FOR ME REMEMBER THAT IT WAS MEANT TO BE.
LAY ME DOWN AND WHEN YOU LEAVE REMEMBER I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE...IN EVERY DARK AND DREARY ALLEY I'LL BE THERE AS YOU SLOWLY TREAD, ON EVERY STREET CORNER IN THE DRIVING SNOW I'LL HOLD YOUR COAT AND YOU WILL KNOW.
IN PLACES WHERE THE DEVIL IS AFRAID TO WALK...
AT DOORS WHERE YOU MEET RESISTANCE...
IN HOUSES WHERE CHILDREN HIDE...
YOU KNOW I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE.
THE PLACE FROM WHICH I NOW RESPOND IS OVERSTAFFED WITH HEROES GONE...MEN WHO ANSWERED ONE LAST JOB AND DID IT WELL.
AS POLICEMEN WE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A CARD DEALT IN OUR HAND...A CARD WE HOPE WE NEVER PLAY BUT WE HOLD IT THERE ANYWAY.
THE CARD IS SOMETHING WE IGNORE AS WE STAND ON THAT THIN BLUE LINE EVERY TOUR...FOR WE KNOW THAT WE ARE THE ONLY PRAYER FOR MANY OUT THERE.
SO REMEMBER, AS YOU WIPE YOUR TEARS, THE JOY I HAVE KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE YEARS...AS THE JOB I LOVED TO DO I PRAY THAT THIS THOUGHT WILL SEE YOU THROUGH.

Family Rodriguez,
I'm sure this is a very hard time for your family. To lose such a special person at such a young age. He may have left you in person, but he did not leave you in spirit. He died what he worked so hard to do. And I know he's in heaven loooking down on you, and still protecting all who pass thru his route. I have a brother (Best friend) who is also a deputy, and incidents like this also worry me on a daily basis, But then we have to understand, That's who they are, and will always be. Your family is in my prayers, Stay strong and dont forget, He will always be there to protect you.
