Reflections for Police Officer Jason Campbell

Jason When I heard the news I could not belive it. From being a 12 year old boy I 1st met you on my dads shift. As a sheriff explorer you took me under your wing and showed me what it really means to be a true lawman. Many nights of ridin with you and carlos. I can truely say that you are one of the main roll models in me going into law enforcement. You are truely missed!

You made my boys so happy when you took them flying that day! I am so glad that we have it on video so they will always remember your laugh and smile. I honestly can't imagine you having a "bad day". You were always the first one to volunteer to help anyone with anything they needed. Thanks for being such a wonderful friend to Monty and I feel so lucky to have known you and your family. You will NEVER be forgotten and always remembered as a hero. Chantel and the kids are going to have all of us to lean on. Look down from above and watch over us. By the grace of God, we will see you again!

Jason,

our hearts broke that sunny Saturday afternoon and time froze in the spring breeze. We mourn the loss of your precious life and will remember you forever. As you have protected your Sisters and Brothers in Blue during your earthly life, watch over them in your eternal life. We all miss you very much, but they especially need your comfort. Rest in peace.

Jason is my older brother, friend, mentor, and advocate.

I wish there was a homepage on the internet that provided the opportunity to commend you for your duty while you were here with us, but then that is not why "brotherhood" of Police Officers serves. You just cannot imagine the love and pride we have for you. We are proud of the Man you became, proud to be your brother, proud of the Husband you are to Chantel and the father to your beautiful children. We are proud of the work you did to clean up the community where you lived & worked. We grieve your loss more than you can imagine and miss you terribly.

To the Greenville City Police officers, Pitt County Sheriff’s Department, City of Greenville (my new family)- If your goal was to honor Jason's memory, you succeeded! Thanks so much for all that you did for my (our) brother Officer Jason C Campbell, and for my (our) family. We appreciate your generosity and compassion as we all grieve our loss.

Jason, my love for you is deep. I will do my best to look out for your family and I will make sure that your memory lives.

We don't always understand why bad things happen to such good people. But I believe God in his almighty plans knew what he was doing. He took a fine officer to heaven to patrol the streets of solid gold. At the funeral, when the final call was given, there was not one single dry eye. Silence was golden at that moment. May God hold you in the very palms of his hands, and angels surround you. I know we will meet again, just on the other side of the eastern gate, in that City that knows no pain! Take care my friend.

Aloha Police Officer Jason Campbell,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life last year in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum; a keeper of the ODMP light. That sacred light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here.

This "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is a hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find solace as we give solace to the families who have lost a loved one.

Police Officer Jason Campbell, God Bless you. You are a hero. As we say in Hawaii, “You are`Ohana.” “You are Family.” No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one; not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in His Divine peace. I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers, peace and love beyond all understanding. I honor you today. You will NEVER be forgotten.

Jason:

I didn't know you very well, but you stopped by my office often when you were first hired to ask me how my father was doing. You talked about how much you enjoyed working for him when you were with the PCSD. I always appreciated your kindess and concern, and passed on your hello's. You were a professional, kind, caring and respected by many. We will all miss you very much.

I heard the call come out on the radio. I was unsure who it might be; but I knew my fear was coming true that a death in our department was occurring. My head is so clouded with thoughts right now in the middle of the night; almost 2 years from when my SGT in MN was shot and killed. I hate that as a new officer I did not know you better. I just remember you sitting directly in front of me with a stern face but a smirky smile asking 334 to do his Arnold's voice... My God I drive by the place of the accident to work - wondering what does the duty day have in store for me... On my way home, I wonder - why is life unfair? You have a family that you should be home with... Why am I in this career field? I want to say it is because of brothers and sisters in blue that love this job and set a great example LIKE YOU DID... many are taking it hard - Please be with each of them!! You are loved and forever missed.

Jason we had alot of great times together at the sheriff's office working on the 40 shift (343). The late night talks and the joking around are just some of the things that I'll miss. We had some great times and some good laughs. It was a pleasure working with you and an honor to have known you. Yout touched more people's lives than you would ever have imagined. I always thought alot of you and your family. Rest assured, they will be taken care of. Watch over us now as we continue our work and we will all meet up on the other side. Rest in peace brother.

Jason,

When I learned about the accident the first thing that came into my head was your family. I know what a great husband and father you were. Chantel and I use to talk when I was school SRO and when she talk about you her face would light up. That shows that what you two had will never break. I also know you enjoyed what you did on the streets. It has been really hard to figure out why God does certain things. I know he has a plan for all of us, but "WHY"! When I met you at the Sheriff's Office on the 40 shift, you took me under your wing to show me the ropes. We had late night poker at your house and late night X-box. When you left and went to GPD I was happy for you but we still remand friends. We would call each other up and MDT each other through the late night shift work. When I moved to South Carolina we still called each other to find out how everything was going and sometimes to pick each other up. It is really hard to even think about taking your name out of my phone. You will always be a great friend and I am sure that we will see each other again. Rest in peace my brother. WCF 1*

Jason,
I remember the night you gave movie tickets to your fellow officer, my son-in-law, and we joked with you. What little time I had known you, you always impressed me with your smile and sense of humor.
I remember the day that you took two wide eyed grandsons of mine up in your plane. They were thrilled. Thanks. They will never forget you either. It has been difficult losing such a fine officer and friend. Rest in peace.
